Nikwax Tech wash. Then the Nikwax TX direct spray proof.. Always works like magic for me. Clean and good as new.

Teaming up to get the refer a friend thing is a pretty great idea. How does it actually work? Like, how does the person who buys first get the discount?
Am thinking of getting the winter jersey and 10% off would go down very nicely. Could probably buy a new bike with the saving (n.b., only bikes costing £16)....
Hi lads
new here and was wondering if anyone wanted to do the refer a friend thing with me as I'm going to place an order for a softshell later so would get us both 10% codes off.
Would be a massive help if anyone would be able to! Thanks -

I don't know what you guts are doing to your rain jackets but mine is as good, if not better than new after cleaning it with Granger's Performance Cleaner and reproofing with Superpruf.
Nikwax Tech Wash and TX spray are also excellent. (I've tried Rapha's version which also works but I think it's just rebranded Granger's but pricier.)
Most treatments last for between 20 and 30 hours of use.

You have to spend over £100 to get the 10% discount, then if you do the friend who referred you also gets a 10% code.

mine (rain jacket) reproofed perfectly. wash first with regular detergent, then wash with grangers 30 degree proofer (the stuff you put in the washing machine, not the spray on), then tumble dry, but not too hot. It doesn't work without the tumble dry, and if you iron instead of tumble dry I find I always miss bits then the the wet gets in here. I'm also sure the Rapha spray on is rebadged granger spray on.
I also used the same technique to reproof my gfs softshell which now appears to be waterproof. not as waterproof as my rain jacket but better than it was before.

I read you have to clean ur machine thoroughly first by running empty machine on 90C? did you do this before washing your jacket?
-
• #14284
nah, aint no body got time for that. just wipe out the detergent drawer a bit if it's full of gunk

Gutted. I dont have a tumble drier.

• #14286
especially as the rain jacket takes about 5 mins to dry in a tumble dryer at the laundrette

You don't need a tumble dryer.
Do you even have a wind jacket?

I did think Rapha could offer a service where they would re-proof things for people. Although I suppose that might stop people buying MOAR THINGS so perhaps not such a good idea ...

I have the city wind jacket which is just a thin piece of nylon/plastic.

You do for some products as they're heat activated. This might be where you're going wrong....
Granger's make one for use without but I can't remember which one it is.

Grangers is heat activated. as long as you don't blast it with the heat of the inside of a McDonalds apple pie it wont shrink (much). if you don't have access to a tumble dryer and have an allergy to laundrettes you can iron your jacket after proofing which will activate the reproofing but I haven't found this nearly as affective as tumble drying in the past

Nikwax reproofer doesn't require tumble drying

Isn't running them in the washing machine at it's hottest setting also does the same thing?

Yes, I wash all my Rapha at 90°C.

I've asked my butler to speak to the dhobi wallah and find out how he reproofs my Rapha.
Will report back.

Isn't it possible to just use two of your own email addresses for the 10% discount? I may have done this before.
Why not simply reproof it?
