I like the new country winter hat

I think the new rapha deep winter baselayer looks kick ass.
-
• #13579
Not sure about all the brown stuff.
On a different note, I got some Funkier thermal leg warmers (after looking at Rapha) and they are cheap and good.

^Very good.
Just a matter of time before Rapha release some Kick Ass batons to hang on the back to complete the ninja look.

Gonna cross dress this winter and get the Women's knitted hat to replace my lost Endura Baabaa Beanie.

Does anyone know what the Merino drawstring hat is about? Wouldn't it be cold with all them gaps?
-
• #13588
Right so think its time I get myself a jacket. Which should I blow £200 on?
The Hardshell
Pro Team Race Cape
The Softshell
Pro Team Jacket?I already have the softshell gilet which is plenty warm and I think the jacket would be a real sweat box. What about the other 3?
-
• #13589
Depends on what you use it for?

I have it, the idea is the drawstring closes the gap and you dont really feel any cold at all. If anything the small gap that may be left can be a good heat dispersing point.
Plus can be worn as a snood. Its not bad only problem for me was sizing. I have a tiny head and all their head gear is one size fits all.

• #13591
what is the jacket for?
if winter training then the PTJ
wet weather commuting then the hardshell
race cape for wet winter training
softshell for general commuting
-
• #13592
I was hoping for one jacket for all really?
I doubt I will do much weekend riding in the wet and cold so its mainly wet and cold commuting. Still it mustn't be a boil in the bag situation as I heat up very quickly.
-
• #13593
I reckon the softshell would be ideal. Baselayer underneath and you are sorted.
-
• #13594
but each jacket has a different purpose...
it rains very few days of the year, so for commuting the softshell is probably best
-
• #13595
So not the hardshell? Why is that not a good idea for commuting?
-
• #13596
I commute on both hardshell and softshell (my dad gave me his old repaired one as he got a replacement from the driver's insurance).
hardshell I felt were warmer and slightly more waterproof (as today proven so), it felt tougher that's for sure.
softshell is probably the best all round jacket for commuting, especially the zipper on the underside of your armpit that the hardshell don't have, make a big difference in preventing myself from getting boiled alive like I did with the hardshell.
-
• #13597
Not liking the colours of the new hardshell...
-
• #13598
well as everyone is suggesting the softshell which is only black and there is a black hardshell perhaps you need to find something else
-
• #13599
It's not to says the softshell can't deal with heavy rain, it can, you'll likely to be slightly damp on certain part of your body*.
*as long you don't confuse your sweat with your rainwater.

I've got a sample-sale prototype of (we believe) the hardshell, but it doesn't have taped seams so I suspect it won't stand up to heavy rain.
Nice jacket though, very warm.
I see Rapha have split test their emails today.
They both have the same message and rider in the mustard Hardshell Jacket, but on one he is wearing a helmet and t'other he is wearing the US winter cap backwards. Wonder which one will generate more sales?
