  • There is a summer sale and a winter sale. And no more sample sales

  • Chatting to a Rapha person in Keswick while watching the Tour of Britain go past, he was pretty sure sample sales are not dead, but suggested the next one wouldn't be in London, more likely Manchester.

  • Rapha is definitely the best you can get

  • I personally hate the styling of the Assos jerseys. Not sure who designs it but gah!

Rapha up top, Assos down below my ideal combo.

    That is cross dressing

  • italian team rocking the gabba today at the worlds, I think

They've already done a Manc one. I rinsed it good. Another would be welcomed, though i hear it's no more at all in the UK

  • Wore my Nanoflex arm warmers today, no rain but they did do a good job of stabilising my temperature as the sun played hide and seek and we swapped rolling flats for sharp climbs.

  • Nanoflex are V good.
Will keep the rain off, even in heavy stuff.
    Love my nanoflex stuff.

  • That is cross dressing

Aye it is, but this is cross dressing I approve of.

  • I had a short list up top end brands to kit myself out with. With less than ideal conditions in mind.

Castelli - Great fabrics for poor weather, great chamios - But horrible fit.
Assos - Numerous great fabrics, cleverly combined - But no wool, ugly jerseys and v. expensive
Skins - amazing fit, and a great chamois - But I find the materials cold.
Rapha - Great fabrics, including lots of wool, and a subtle look.

I suspect I put too much of my faith in wool for nordic cycling. But I know it'll keep me warm even if I get wet, and its looked after me on some wet mountain hikes.

  • I'll probably still get the Skins C400 bib shorts for warm summer rides.

  • I would put Craft clothing up there, not at the top but close to it. Great kit for a fraction of the cost of the above. Use their 3/4 knicks for commuting and really happy. Not as comfy as my Assos but for less than half the price cant complain.

Need to get some thermal knicks now...

  • You get a lot of Craft stuff up here. Its kinda nice. But the tops dont fit me, and I can usually get better stuff on offer in terms of bottoms.

  • I oredered the winter gloves bundle (liner+gloves) last night, will report back on what they are like.

My hands are borderline for the XL's, we shall see if my concern in that area is justified.

  • Look forward to report on the gloves. Bit pricey though.

  • yeah gloves are lush. New fall/winter gear drops the 14th will have to swoop a few new long sleeves as well

  • Whats the fit of the merino arm warmers like.

I'm a large in terms of circumferance, and a small in terms of length.

Logically a medium seems the way to go. But will I be better off getting a small so avoid bunching? or a large to avoid over stretching?

My M/L endura armwarmer are too tight to wear.

I use M in the standard arm warmers. I have pretty bulky arms and am 5"6 so not the longest of arms. No real bunching at all and S would be too tight and L would be too long.

    Long'n'thin, too far in
    short'n'thick, does the trick

I get the feeling i need to try these.

Sounds like the medium length would be OK. But I'm at least an inch too thick.

  • I would've thought Rapha glove are best to be avoided.

Interesting to hear how the newer version are like.

  • I would've thought Rapha glove are best to be avoided.

    Why?

  • Re the arm warmers, I have a large and find them too tight on the bicep, too loose at the wrist and overall too short. Not a favourite bit of kit at all.

  • You must have some really odd sized arms?
