Yeah the EDD spoke calc site is down, it's not just you ;-)
My spreadsheet gives 280mm for those hubs/rims, but always worth double checking with another source before you go ordering spokes.
As http://lenni.info/edd/ is currently down or my work computer wont let me onto it could someone help with spoke length or recommend another calculator to use (preferably one that is as easy!!)? I have a set of On One Large Flange Track hubs and 32H Velocity Deep V rims.
Cheers for the help in advance

Hey buddy,
For the Miche Primato Large Flange hubs on Mavic Open Pro's i get 293.0mm for the front and 293.4mm for the rear so i'd order 292mm spokes.
Edd is back online.
It gives the front exactly as you stated, 293mm, but for the single-fixed rear I have, the measurement are 294.4 (left) and 292.6mm (right).
I trust it makes sense, but thought to ask.

Thanks OldSkoolRacer, just used Edd calc this morning and it has come out as Front 277.9 and Rear 277.3. so that gives 2-3 mm difference to yours. Should i get them somewhere in between the two?
Cheers again for any help

Ah didn't realise you had a single fixed rear - in this case you'll have to dish the wheel slightly to centre it in the frame. Personally i'd go wtih 292.0mm all round but it may be a little tight on the non-cog side when you dish. You could always order 16 x 292.0mm and 16 x 294.0mm from somewhere like cyclebasket?

Yeah i have a feeling my on-one hub measurements are not 100%. I have built a front on-one hub onto a Rigida DP18 (which is nigh on identical to a deep v albeit heavier) and i used 276mm so i'd go with that.Always better to be an increment too short than too long (for once!) and if worst comes to worst you can always get longer nipples.
One thing to check is the hub measurements as the spoke calcs are not always quite right. I'd suggest measuring it yourself or checking on Arup Sen's website here;

I've been having trouble with a wheel I built with spokes too long because they were knocking about. I was riding it for a few months without any problem but recently its been playing up.
The rim is double walled and none of the spokes protrude past the outer wall of the rim. I have recently had two punctures with holes which look like they could have been made by a spoke and am now wondering what the problem is.
How far into the spoke hole is the inner tube likely to poke?
If the spokes are over 3mm away from the outer wall, should this be an issue? -

Check the rim tape for holes/cracks above the spokes. They may be hard to see with the tyre off, but under 7bar of pressure, the tape can stretch quite a way into the spoke hole. You could try Veloplugs instead of tape, as they are stiffer. Put a layer of electrician's tape over them if you're not an obsessive weight weenie, provides extra protection to the tube and eliminates the possibility of a plug getting knocked out when changing a tube, resulting in an instant new puncture :-(

Hi i need to know what spoke length is needed for lacing DDimond hubs (formula) to deep v's 32h 3x?
-
• #388
This off the top of my head is 282mm? Have a check on Edd spoke calc site though, its easy to use and the link is given a few posts above.
EDIT - Here you go;

cheers for the link, should i round down the length to 280mm or use 282mm?

Always round down ;-)

im finding this spoke calcualation thing quite confusing, any help would be great.
i have 32 H Dodici 405 high profil rims with an ERD of 560.
then i have a set of 32H Miche Primato Pista large flange hubs:
Front:
OLN: 100
Flange: 60
C-F: 33.3
Hole: 2.5
Chainline: n/aRear:
OLN: 120
Flange: 60
C-F: 37
Hole: 2.5
Chainline: 50( http://www.yogarup.com/wheels/hubs.php )
Can someone please work out the spoke size please. I was using Edd, but it has conflicting measurements for the hubs with yogarup.

3 cross?
spocalc.xls says 270.7 front, 271.2 rear
Worth double checking tho, as I'm still a noob.
edit - double checked on Edd and got the same...?

Cool, thanks. So what size spoke should i use? 271mm for both?

round down is general wisdom around here
You'd probably get away with 270 on both, but again don't take my word for it, wait for one of the experts to come along and advise properly.

Does this seem right? This is according to the DT calculator.
Goldtec / Mavic Open Pro / 32h / 3x / 12mm nipples = 292mm front and rear
Phil Wood HF / Mavic Open Pro / 32h / 3x / 12 mm nipples = 292mm front, 291mm rear(with DT Champion 2.0 PG spokes)
edit: I've assumed a spoke hole diameter of 2mm in both cases, is this correct for Goldtec / Phil? Can't seem to find this information anywhere.

A question for you wheel builders - I've run my hub and rim choices through Lenni's database and it suggests a 295 mm spoke length. I've a box of 298 mm spokes sat here - is it worth risking it or should I get the proper length spokes?
-
• #398
Spokes 3mm too long = plain shank of spoke hitting the threads in the nipples.
