It's Political Correctness gone Papist........
Nah it is pretty shocking - I cycled to school every day through all weathers......I arrived miserable, wet, cold, hungry and shaking with fear and it never did me any harm....I suppose they will ban paper rounds next will they......?

That is fucking stupid, the school has no right to dictate what he does off the premasis. And I'm sure if they suspended him or expelled him it would be an infringment on his human rights. I say the father should go to the school and sort it out. FFS.
At my secondary in west London the head master (c@nt) Nd his 'deputies' would drive around the shops and tell all the lads to go home and not go to the shops, a few of us challenged him and said we are not doing anything wrong and we are not at school. There after they continued to pick us out if something bad happend at school and we even got acused of drug trafficing - we didn't even do drugs!
That was a catholic and school and that head master and his cronies had way to much power over childerns education, dangerous men if you ask me.

I think he should let it fester deep down in his psyche for a number of years before going back aged 18 and going postal on their cycling to school banning asses.....
Then we'll see who has the last.....er......laugh

I feel sorry for the kid now all the bike theves in Pompey know exactly where an unattended mountain bike will be monday through friday 9 till 2. His lock didn't look that great so no doubt him riding to school won't be a problem much longer.

Actions for those affected:-
Schools cannot legally ban pupils from cycling to school, but many use a ban on pupils from bringing bikes onto their property, which is what St Paul's did in this case. The intention is to actively discourage pupils who want to cycle to school, by making life as difficult for them as possible. Debra Rolfe of CTC wants to hear from anyone who has encountered resistance to cycling to school.
Email: Debra.rolfe@ctc.org.uk with "discouraged from cycling” in the subject line. -

The council has done risk assessment, alter road layouts and offer bike storage. It's solely the retarded board of governs according to the bbc.
Any money it's one or two olds with a bike prejudice.

'over subscribed catholic school'
aha, I think clm may have got to the root of this... It's nowt to do with actual H&S requirements, and everything to do with elitist 'ooh cycling is for people who can;t afford a nice 4X4' attitudes, which are prevalent in the Daily Mail readership zones of the country.

Yeah. I know.
Im a teacher - the school has no jurisdiction beyond the school gates before school or after school - they have no say on how that pupil gets to school. They are only in loco parentis off premises if there is a school trip organised which is risk assessed up to the eyeballs.
They will be very concerned about punctuality because that is reported on to the govt so the kid could turn up 10 mins late every day and say..."well its very difficult for me to get here on time with out my bike..." they would also fall on their arse trying to prosecute the parent then for lateness because they have been so unsupportive.
I suspect there is some shit excuse behind it like not wanting to be prosecuted if he falls off on school grounds. i also expect they are a stuck up, over subscriced catholic school (like most faith schools are) which have a massive waiting list and are happy to say...see you later
rant over
