  • Jesus, I'd be finished by the time that bloke got to the second dip in the kerb.

  • the lack of commentary actually makes the video even more daunting - talking about post 220, not checked the others yet

  • Yeah but I like the idea. Even I'd beat that git (might finally opt for one of those old lady* compact cranksets though)

*or sexual partner if you're into oldies. .

  • Do you mean 'old lady' or previous sexual partner? Or both?

  • OMG - that is pure porn for me. I think I'd have to wimp out, and go for a Xer or something - but only for the knobblies. 39x23 would be fine...

that video looks and sounds like a gastric examination

Pah! Just looks like a foggy Star Hill...

Shirley this bastard would defeat most cars?

It seems to go up to a tiny little chapel?

    Catholic punishment FTW.

  • I remembered this thread, and wondered if anyone's entered yet. The site's a bit difficult to use.

Unfortunately not financially viable this year for me. Reminder to the rest of you though.

  • I saw that too. Galibier: 'intense personal drama'. Too right.

I'm thinking financially it's gonna be difficult too. Am I right to say that it's unlimited entry, but that you gotta book accommodation early or you'll find yourself an hour's drive from the start?

  • Nope, it's not unlimited entry. They do, however, keep some entries aside to sell in the week leading up to the event should it sell out. If you do definitely want to do it then I'd sign up now.

Accomodation is quite easy to find on Alpe d'Huez itself, and I'd recommend the Tourist Office there as they are very helpful in my experience, as there are dozens of hotels and a lot of apartments and houses to rent.

  • I'm out this year too, can't afford it. Trying to do stuff closer to home this year seems I spent the whole of last year travelling about the place.

  • So who's doing this? I had dreams of going back this year to try and get under 8h 49 (the gold time that I missed by 2 secs in 2004) but it's not happening.

  • I wish.

It seems we're both destined to only ride in an eternal loop between Calthorpe St and Tysoe St.
