  • Vittoria.

    High roller, huh?

    /thread

  • Rubinos.. I used to use them for training. Terrible on greasy roads, never again. Life is too short for cheap/shit tyres.

  • Rolling resistance will probably be a bit high.

  • meh, I like them. not gonna get better for £20 anyway. NB rubino pro is a totally different tyre to a non-pro rubino

  • Yep, last pair i had were pro's. Not saying they are awful, just that I can't be fucked with them anymore. Good tyres are the best upgrade you can buy.

  • old faithful. Loved those tyres when I rode DH.

  • Which in the new Bontrager range is the closest match/replacement model for the Racelite Hardcases...?

  • Smooth roller.

Open Pave/latex tubes/Archetype = Brian Ferry on Lithium.

  • None, the AW series replace this nowadays.

AW2 and AW3 have aero profile, and are harder to fit.

  • Definitely avoid Rubino Pros, they've had me on the floor more than a couple of times in the wet.

  • +1 Open Pavé being great.
+1 Rubino being pony - no grip whatsoever in anything other than bone dry. Hard wearing though...

  • Having ridden thousands upon thousands of miles on them here and in the EU. that's not the tyre's fault.

  • Rubino Pro Slicks are awesome fun when you hit a wet manhole cover. Did it last night and back wheel was spinning so fast but I was going so slow.

  • Almost all tyres will do that on wet metal.

  • I don't know how you ride, but it's a common complaint and not particularly confidence inspiring when your rear tyre just randomly lets go navigating roundabouts. Never experienced it with any other tyre

  • @hippy these are pro they do it better

  • Rubino Pro are fine, of course not as grippy as a full on race tyre but if you're going sideways you're doing it wrong (or maybe grass track racing).

  • Never experienced it with any other tyre

    Soon.

  • Been riding with the Continental Grand Sport Race tyres for the last 6 months, quite decent for a budget tyres, and go up to 32mm folding.

The 25mm work well on wider rims, unlike my old 4 Seasons.

  • What's wrong with 4 seasons on wide rims?

  • Contact point is too narrow, thus the sidewall is more exposed.
