I just put my 32s back on. Not sure the extra 4mm is worth the hassle but they're more durable and I still need to wear them out before I fit the 35s I bought a while ago that were for the missus. Also wanna try a 42? for size.

That's an interesting option too. Might be somewhat similar to the Gravelking?
There's a few good alternatives for general riding/training, GK, Compass, Supreme, G one, Exposure, Voyager hyper (though this seems to be discontinued)..., but is any of those or some other 35mm(ish) tyre actually fast like a race tyre? They feel somewhat fast, but the only rollingresistance test I've seen have been a couple of disagreeing ones about Compass'. Anything to beat 28mm GP4000 as ultraracing tyre?

I haven’t ridden GKs so can’t compare the feel; but from the spec point of view I think the fairweathers are lighter. Also despite their name they handle foul weather just as well :)

I had a set of gravel kings in 32. Won't bother again. They weren't "fast" but I didn't mind. They cut up very easily and punctured several times.
My cheapo conti sport contact 2 in 42mm have been going much longer, never punctured and are really supple/grippy -

really supple
no

You've got a set have you? >>>>>>

Those Contis look good too, for some rides.
I had a pair of Compass' extralights in 44x559. Felt like they were rolling nicely at slower speeds but struggled when riding in a faster group. Though maybe it was just a shit bike. Seemed fragile at first, but then held up fine when I started using wobbly low pressures, apart from getting those broken threads on the sides.
Now I have G One Allrounds, with tubes lol. G One Speed in 35 might be something.
But it would be nice to see tests and numbers.

I'm gonna replace my current set of Fairweathers when P-X restocks them at the end of October, you're welcome to have the old ones for testing purposes if you wish. They should still have some life in them I reckon.

supple doesent exist, its only in jan heine's head, so don't use that word again

I don’t know or care who that is. No they’re literally supple. You know, soft and bendy?
They’re pretty thin, like a big road tyre rather than a touring or gravel tyre -
• #5812
soft and bendy
thats a good term, use that
-
• #5813
capable of being bent or folded without creases, cracks, or breaks
able to perform bending or twisting movements with easesupple

I'm interested, but you'd have to send them to Finland, not sure if it's worth it for worn tyres...

I googled "supple", this was the first image result

Turn off your tailored search results you filthy Nan botherer! :P

For puncture protection on the commute should I run some G-One Speeds (With tubes) or go through the hassle of selling them and getting some marathon supremes?
-
• #5818
For puncture protection
Marathon supremes
Yep, they will be almost as fast as G Ones
-
• #5819
Wear out the G-Ones then buy the widest, heaviest tyres you can for commute?
-
• #5820
fast
"commute". Please calculate the time difference between both these tyres.

I swear by Lifeline's Prime Armour Road tyre for commuting / winter. The set on my commuter have had zero punctures (on for over a year now, probs about ~5000km done).
Also had their non-armour ones on my road bike for a bit, maybe ~2000km done on a set before I got new wheels. Again, no visitations. At £15 a pop it's very hard to resist.

I still like Durano Plus for commute durability. I ended up using Durano because I'd be riding the same bike on weekends and wanted the extra bit of cush. I've got 32mm Voyager Hypers back on now - I did a bunch of audaxing with them and want to wear them out before testing another even bigger volume set.

I use all brands of tyres. I wear them out fast enough that I'm often looking for something different when it's time to buy. I think Rubino Pro were my most used tyres but then I moved to wider and more durable because who wants to fuck around with fixing flats?

I think I still have a 42 or 45mm Hyper I bought just to test for size. Never fitted though. Want to try the 35s but need to kill off the 32s first.
Anyone noticed whether the Vittoria Hypers have been back down to £14.99 at PX recently?

Absence of options could suggest low stock, so might go down again in the foreseeable...
