thanks i noticed and a bit pissed off..
I'm looking for a 32-35 mm tyres fast and light if possible -
• #5354
I've been happy with Hypers, put them on instead of Gravelkings which I found to be a puncture magnet. Done about 1000 miles on them and the are great for the price on PX

Hypers are fucking great! cc/ @Klar
-
• #5356
Indeed. I like Hypers a lot. I’ve got the 40mm version.
-
• #5357
I would expect Corsa g+ 25c to come up as 26mm on Open Pro
-
• #5358
+1 for Hypers. Good price. Gonna get me some sparez
-
• #5359
Hypers definitely. They do size up big though. Mine are the 35s but come up almost 38 on 21 internal rims even with low pressure. They do say 37-622 on the side which is a bit confusing. Would have got 32s if I'd known.
Also dont expect to be able to have black tyres by removing the reflective strip. Removed mine last night and leaves a light grey strip in its place, may go black with riding but bit annoying

Looking at getting gravel kings, clearance is a bit tight. How accurate to size are they?
On a 17mm internal rim mavic aksium.Gp 4000 25 fit fine, 28 are too tall although tested on a thinner rim (I think) off a mates bike

• #5361
I need the 32 but they are like 6€ more then the 35 that s why i was considering other options
-
• #5362
It would appear when you buy Vittoria tyres you need to look at their sizing method, which is 622 x?. 700x38 is 622x40 for example.
-
• #5363
Why not label it as a 40mm tyre then? If thats what it is. Seems a bit misleading, only a couple mm so doesnt bother me but might if someone had especially tight clearances
-
• #5364
I asked about this a while back, no-one had an answer as to why it might be the case
-
• #5365
That kinda normal for a lots of manufacturer TBH.
-
• #5366
622x40
The only sizing method that makes any sense.
-
• #5367
True, but mindboggling that they can then label the same tyre as 700x38c
-
• #5368
It's a correction for the generally wider rims used for wider tyres.

I've just had a bead tear on a Vittoria Rando for about the 3rd time (all on different rims, I have Randos on a couple of bikes) so need something puncture proof and hard wearing but will not be buying another Rando.
Swithering between Conti GatorHardshell and Marathon Plus really.
Halfords are doing Marathon Plus for £20 but I reckon the Gators will ride nicer.
Also seen PX are doing Ribmos for £18, puncture protection be similar between Gator and Ribmo?
Or anything else around that budget that's a better idea?
-
• #5370
Gator ride nicer but not grippy like marathon plus.
Look at Lifeline tyres instead?
-
• #5371
Gators are shit! End of. Choose any other tyre that meets your budget and they'll be better.
-
• #5372
Gators get a bad rep but hard shells did me well for a few years of London commuting
-
• #5373
I’ve done 1000s of Miles on folding ribmos, excellent tyres, ride much better than gators and imo much grippier. They go on forever.
I’ve had one puncture which was a massive thorn through the side wall after doing some off roaring.
-
• #5374
I don’t get the gator hate.
I’ve still got some 23s left from working in a shop and people changing them out when they had plenty life left but no need something wider this time.
I should have maybe said, it’s for my Day One which is fixed so grip isn’t gonna be a massive issue as I’m not cornering super quick.
I’ve ridden Marathon Pluses in 25c before and found them pretty horrid, slow and...dead?

Sounds like a toss up between Ribmo and Gator really.
Probably give the Ribmo a bash since they’re cheaper.
which one is better?
