Recently ditched a set of schwalbe pro ones and swapped to an old set of half used veloflex master. Holy shit, so much more grip and better ride feel than the schwalbes. The veloflex are a very narrow 25mm tyre, even on wide rims but for price and performance they are ace.
Oh, and I changed from the pro ones because they never gave me confidence handling wise and seemed to have gone hard after a few months. I wonder if the hot summer sun here in syd killed the compound?

If schwalbe pro ones are the best available road tubeless, then I can see a lot of people not bothering. Agree with your comments.

I've ridden Pro One's for a while and never had any issues with grip.

I've never had an off with the pro ones but they feel squirmy and I've noticed that they drift off line in a sequence of faster corners. Same bike, same sequence of corners but with veloflex and even on old corsa sc I can hold the line with confidence.
Pro ones have lasted though and been punct*re free, and they are fast. Just lacking the ride feel of other tyres.

That would be awesome, pm on it's way!

What PSI are you using? I've found them to be really good so far - running tubeless and about 60 PSI

Anyone used both Gravel Kings and Ribmos able to comment on the difference in durability / puncture resistnace between the two?
If I want a good, balanced tyre would the money be better spent on gp4000sII?

• #4660
GP4000s are race/fast tyres? GKs and RIBMOs are not.

I'm not running tubeless, may be the problem. Run 80psi rear and 70 front. I did run lower pressures but i didn't like the doughy feel on climbs.

Yeah your right!
Sorry I kind of meant to ask two different questions... I know gp4s are quick tyres but was under the impression they are highly regarded for their durability as well? I've not owned a set before so am just speculating!

Don't confuse 4 Seasons with 4000SIIs
-
• #4664
I didn't think I had, reading through the last few pages others rate them for their puncture resistance (over four seasons). But I guess that isn't the case for daily riding / racking up miles?
So it's between Ribmo's and Gravel Kings, anyone thats used both could recommend one over the other?

Writing gp4000sII and gp4s when referring to the same tyre (GP4000SII) might confuse given the existence of actual GP4S (http://www.bicyclerollingresistance.com/road-bike-reviews/continental-grand-prix-4-season-2015) which are different tyres.
"4 Season is thinner than the GP4000S II (2.7 mm Vs 2.9 mm). The sidewalls are a bit thicker at 0.7 mm Vs 0.55 for the GP4000S II."
"One of the main selling points of the 4 Season is its claimed high puncture resistance. With a score of 17 points in the puncture resistance test, the 4 Season performs excellently. 17 points is a much better score than the 11 points the GP4000S scored."

Tubeless G-One Speed's are proper naughty.

I have used both this winter into spring, 28mm on my tourer. Had to ditch the GKs after many a punc in highly flinty + damp conditions just kept glueing stones to the rubber and I didn't check it enough to stay on top of removal.
Ribmos haven't had any puncs, but they don't feel as nice. Will switch back as soon as I stop commuting along that particular stretch.
Prior to this particular commute this winter I hadn't had any problems with GKs.

GP4000sII are quite durable for a race tyres.

2 flats on 32mm GK's over 1½ years. Both from glass shards.
First ride with GP4000sII 28mm i got a flat. Rolled nicely though.
Gravel kings roll pretty well. They don't feel sluggish but certainly no race tyre. -

Wouldn't disagree.

Taking my Corsa G+ 25c on touring in Finland next week - will report back.

I think I'm doing it wrong. Gone from commuting over broken, crappy roads on a Look 464 with 23mm Re-fuse @ 110psi to an AC Nature Boy with 40mm G-One Microskin tubeless @ 45psi.
I was expecting to waft to work on a bed of comfort, but actually I can't tell any difference at all. Every crack, hole and piece of debris still feels like a kick up the arse.

I usually commute on a cx bike with 28mm tyres at around 70-80 psi and it's not as comfortable as my carbon road bike with 25mm tyres at 100psi.

Are you sure you're not actually being kicked up the arse?
I've got a set of 35c panaracer pasela tyres, but my ma's frame doesn't quite have clearance for them, does anyone fancy a swap for something 32c (or under) and tanwall preferably? They've seen very few miles
