The real issue here is gravel kings
-
• #4553
Borderline. Surely the best thing about GKs is practicality, I wouldn't want to pump them daily. That said, mine are on my commuter.
-
• #4554
You say that but with eyes closed they are literally Pavé .. same (?) tread, even the weight. Got the 26mm variant, will see how wide they are on Hed. The 'race' wheels have Pavé tubs lol.

LOL !

Paves are softer (possibly higher TPI)

These are a super nice permanent bargain: italian tyres with a really nice pattern for 14.50€:

Why?
-
• #4559
Would be interested to hear how you think they compare to the posher tyres you've been riding. I can't fault the GKs. Even went for a quick ride round some damp woods yesterday and they did ok (32s).
-
• #4560
I know you rate them but they're not a performance tyre.
-
• #4561
In what sense?
Compared to what?
Is this based on your experience?
-
• #4562
If by performance, you mean race , then you're right, but as an all rounder I don't think they can be beaten for the money. Great for a commuter, winter trainer, general road riding, and non too muddy bridalway/towpath.

• #4563
In what sense?
In the literal sense, race = this;
-
• #4564
Amey didn't say anything about racing.
-
• #4565
posh road bike
means race tyres to me. YMMV.
-
• #4566
You'll look like a total pleb
-
• #4567
Tbh they aren't exactly cheap though
-
• #4568
I dunno, those are 60tpi which are different to the 300tpi 'open tubular' challenge tyres.
My guess is vulcanised. Also Challenge tyres are all made in Thailand.

guise i only race 3w/kg on zwift .. gonna give it a go for teh lulz. I do like the idea of full blown race tyre but they are fragile and Kent lanes are total cunt. Corsa G+ sit nicely between race and lane riding tyre, this time round just wanted to try something different. Also I totally forgot I have a pair of Corsa G+ tubs that need stretching .. now, do I take tubs to alps or just ardennes?

Anyway, still these are the nicest tyres by far in that price range - show me any other clincher tyre with a herringbone or diamond pattern for under 20€.
-
• #4571
You know that doesn't matter right?
-
• #4572
this guy is certified tyre badman®
-
• #4573
But if there isn't a pattern then there wont be grip.
-
• #4574
Yeah! Surely all these slick tyres will just aquaplane errrywhere!
-
• #4575
It sure does matter, especially for collector/show bikes where it's more about the looks than durability.
I for example have around ten bikes, but only three of them are really used on a daily basis. The rest is just used once or twice per month, why invest in high end tyres on these?
is it wrong to put latex tubes in gravel kings on posh road bike?
