There's a nice little gang of fucking cowards gathering who don't have the integrity to use her name. You're talking about LdnGrrl, we all know who you mean but you're such fucking miserable little bullies you think it's below you to write her name. You make me puke you sanctimonious, witless, self-regarding bores.
I do wonder at your protectiveness on this one will, I really do. You're quite happy to put the boot in to other people at times but for some reason you seem to have decided to take ldngrrl 'under your wing'.. that's your decision if you think ldngrrl's worth it. Maybe you know her outside the forum, I don't know. But I don't. Bearing in mind her constant barrage of attention-seeking on here, it really is quite baffling to see you defending her considering some of the other people you have laid into in recent months who, as far as I can see, posted far less.
If you want to feel magnanimous about someone who thinks the world revolves around them and who comes onto a forum and immediately treats anyone who's willing as if they are her minions, fine. But to me ldngrrl's posts excude phoniness and restrained bitchiness, and i feel like I'm in the fucking stepford wives watching everyone suck it up. check out the thread you have all been being pricks on all afternoon..that's right, the pistanator one.. there she is, putting the boot in to bella when her opionion was neither asked for nor in any way relevant. nothing to do with her. she constantly posts as if the whole forum is just beside itself with excitement about her and is arrogant and over-familiar with anyone who'll swallow it. If you want to swallow it then fine, but I'm not going to be fooled. I'm not clear on why you think I should make an exception for her but I'm sorry, I'm my own decision maker and I'll say what I think, not what you think I should say.
Stop saying this "bully" thing though will - as I said to you before, at least as far as I can speak for myself, it's way off the mark. It's simple annoyance at someone being a tool. You'll get no purchase in your defence of her by dramatising the (as far as I can see, minimal) flak she gets. Look to your consistent and very vocal loathing of Paul Mitchell a few months ago and you might get a handle on it. I don't remember calling "bully" on you every time you said something to him, which I believe was far more frequently. You'll find I have addressed this "lndgrrl"all of two or three times. I don't snuggle up to anyone on here for anything, let alone to be spiteful to someone, and I think I've gt a pretty good record of not putting the boot in with other people, so please - enough of this "bully" misinterpretation. If nothing else - if you can't plainly see why I have taken issue with her on what is actually just two occasions (there have been many, many more instances she would have been picked up on if she had been someone like 'Paul Mitchell' as far as I can see) - why not merely be as bewildered about my attitude towards her as I am about yours?
There, now did that make anything better? No, it didn't did it.

Wow as in, what exactly does this thread has got to do with me? I was joking about blaming them, a lot of people have actucally helping me to pick up what is hopefully the correct bike for me. I contribue to threads, Im continually learning about bikes, and people have taken time out to explain stuff and their opinions on what I should do.
If I wanted people to look at me, I'd post in EVERY thread going talking about soley about myself, but no I actucally contribue to threads, and Im sorry I dont meet your strandards of how people should be in here, but seriously, got a problem with me? PM it to me and stfu.

a big whatever and a good few yawns thrown in for good measure. I'm out. I was, if you look carefully, addressing wiganwill; I'm not really interested in defending my actions to you. You've already shown in many many other posts that you're not someone I have much in common with on here. The difference between you and others who I haven't much in common with is you've decided to be like some kind of post mosquito, "zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzngg", "zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzng", "zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzng"-ing your merry way through the forum's collective consciousness, so are naturally intruding upon my ability to read any single thread without having to wade through your empty, twitter-idolising vernacular.

ironically I have shown myself here to be still capable of the very thing that has really put me off this forum in the last few months. Petty arguments and narky conversational thread derailments are the very antithesis of why I visit; now I've dipped into it myself. Not cool. Apologies to anyone who's disappointed in me, I'm so very disappointed in myself.

right, putting the thread perfectly back on track thanks to Peter for the frame sizing chart, really helpful, so from my measurements i can now deduce that anything between 59cm C-T and 54 C-T is correct for me. Cheers mate!

Bear in mind that most fit systems are based on averages of male pro racing cyclists and their positions in the mid 70s . I even think they were mostly italian
So, before you multiply your measurements by a % you need to ask your self, I am i riding the Tour this year? Most probably you are not
Here, btw , is the fit chart
http://www.prodigalchild.net/MoultonFrameSizeChart.pdfSeriously, thanks for this. I'd calculated the measurements for my forthcoming frame by a different system, but they work out exactly the same as Dave's recommendations, which is reassuring given the echo of "too small, too small" clanging in my soul.
As I suspected, at 5'4" with legs like tree stumps I've been riding bikes too big most of my life.
I do wonder if there's a bit of misplaced ego attached to riding bigger frames than necessary.

But why did you need to look at a spreadsheet to confirm it? Didn't you just know simply because you were uncomfortable. I've been trying to get my new bike to feel comfortable, not to be the right size frame. I think there's an important difference because as I realised today, different frames with different geometries made by different manufacturers come up differently. It now seems perverse to go into a shop and insist on a particular size.
It's like shoes. I'm usually a 10.5 or 45, but with some shoes I buy I need an 11 and others a 10.
So from now on I'm going to tell the shop the size I usually take for bike frames, but let them measure me for their bikes, and then I'm going to ride it and see if it's comfortable and if it's not I'm going back to see how I can improve the ride.

I didn't need the spreadsheet to confirm it. I was just glad to have a second reference.
The size of frame I should be riding is smaller than the smallest size offered by most manufacturers so it's only now I'm getting a frame made I've had the luxury of being able to spec it myself - and, wow, it's really small!
:)

Id imagine it would be small. I'm 5'7", but relatively short legs (<30"), and I tend to ride the smallest frames alot of manufacturers make.
Have you considered going for 650c wheels, instead of the standard 700c. I'd highly recommend it for someone of your height, as it will help place you over the wheels and not inbetween them (it will also aid standover). This should improve the feel and handling of the bike.
