Sharing erotic pictures of amputees is not really on a par with having your own distinct language.

Semiotics isn't the only vehicle for culture - also creativity and common behaviours, so you're wrong here.

For the lyrically challenged, here's the full lyric:
You must probably know these lyrics as well

me too "...he took the something train going *aaa*ny wheerre"
No, no,no. You're thinking of Monkees "Last Train to Clarksville".
Small Town Boy is that Jimmy Nail one...
"Crocodile shoes, Crocodile Shooooees..."

I thought that was the theme song from blade runner, whatever that is.

Are you genuinely surprised about this?
Actually yeah.
I always presume that people stop short of becoming jerks themselves... that people are in essence decent, respectful and honourable.
You can see why I have trouble with life.

This can only be at me and who put his name up.
Still this.
I'm not sure that happened, there were 2 posts out of hundreds? I googled his name, I was curious. There are a million and one people with his name. I posted one of then because he works for an airline so though It could be ironic.
No where near as bad a Johnny Rau.Unless I've missed something?

Nope, three people put the name up, and not everything I say is directed at anyone in particular... this actually reminded me of a conversation with Buffalo Bill about an incident in which he suggested that the LFGSS mob could turn physical at times, and I said that it hasn't happened to date as when it came down to it LFGSS was all talk and no action. Which is where my comment about my presumptions about human decency come in, that I presume everyone is going to act fairly and reasonably towards others and give other people a chance... he disagreed, and I can't recall what incident that was but I remember being shocked then that maybe I presume too much. This stuff... with people not knowing when it's become futile to argue and dress-down someone... reminded me of that conversation and the same essence. Do people realise when they've won and to walk away? Or do they carry on fighting until they suffer a pyrrhic victory or loss? Unfortunately, whilst I continue to presume the former, everyone tends to err towards the latter.
Stop being so sensitive anyway... you always think it's about you individually Wicksie, and this line is because I named you... but mostly it's more about calming an excitable mob than picking out any individual.

I had to look up pyrrhic.
Pyrrhic |ˈpirik| (also pyrrhic)
adjective attrib. won at too great a cost to have been worthwhile for the victor.I'm definitely going to slip that into my dissertation somewhere to sound clever.

I only saw one other relevant post than mine, presumably because you nuked the others, so it's only natural to assume it was about me and the other dude.
Fair enough that there was others, it's obviously wrong and people know that, but I honestly don't think normal life and rationale are applied this forum / forums.
This place is a boys club / bitch fest and it can be cruel. It's still not right but that's how it is, fun and games in which people get carried away. I don't think it means that people aren't "in essence decent, respectful and honourable". It's more about having a laugh with mates than directed at the 'victim'.
I would say out of the many hundreds of spats, the percentage where it gets dangerous is minimal.Anyway, I apologise for my part.

I'm not particularly angry about any of the posts I've read. Everyone is allowed their own views. I'm not particularly a fan of pouncing on people whose views don'tr match my own (that Simon Cowell viewpoint again). But glib generalisations can often lead to massive misinterpretations by others (the whole Haringey Witch hunt was prompted by some considerably misinformed journalism). I've got nothing personally against Str and his views do not bother me. I was just trying to get through the trivialisation of a whole body of groundbreaking work by psychologist's etc. It's all about human nature and development and stuff innit...
and the perineum off course

Be careful about trying to appear clever in a dissertation. Fail and it will make you look stupid, succeed and it will make your tutor feel stupid.

I thought that this meant cocks! In which case your observation would be well founded and insightful. Not quite sure how we can be a bunch of pointless, costly victories.

Personally I think str is going to fit in perfectly.
He's managed to raise some objectionable points without getting barred.
He's going to come to drinks.
When James is banned again in three months (or is it two now?) I recon str will be his natural successor.
