  • Looking at that receipt I don't think he's been ripped off at all... Easy for costs to run out of control when you're building a bike, well easy...

  • I know, but £1700 though? You could get a 2 year old Colnago with Ultegra for that. Or a small car.

It's not even a particularly nice frame. I feel really sorry for him, but I guess if you walk into a bike shop like blb with an open chequebook you're bound to get shafted.

  • Thing is, you and I would probably go the eBay/forum classifieds route and spend a third of that on the same build... Some people just feel more comfortable going the retail route, no one put a gun to the guy's head... It is a staggering amount of money tho', no0b fixeh fail... :[

  • possibly an early call, but dannifoffa is currently viewing the foffa thread

    James, do some work!

I know, that's how blb/14/ most bike shops make their money.. vulnerable people walking in with credit cards. It's not that much of a shock really, the bike industry is largely propped up by middle aged men with disposable income who can't afford a Porsche

  • Dude, its warming up fast.

You don't need that balaclava then, right?

  • Tell me about it. It's becoming increasingly clear that the frame and forks are in fact resprayed, with mismatching forks. So certainly not worth the £529 paid. Gullible and naive yes, really should've known better.

Note to other's who get seduced by the gorgeous Italian delights hanging from the ceiling in the half-lit BLB shop, beware...

  • FFS. It gets worse

    Bad luck

Seriously tell them to take the frame back and get a proper track frame.

    Or small claims court...

  • Wow, that really is low. If you can prove it's a respray then surely there's a claim for being mis-sold, seeing as the receipt says NOS?

  • I hear you, cheers Prancer. Going to consult the wife who is studying for a law degree.

Will certainly keep this forum updated post BLB return, even as a precautionary tail to others with an incredibly naive penchant for beautiful Italian frames and a little too much spare cash, (Cyclescheme voucher or not).

    Research is everything.

  • I thought the forks looked wrong for that frame. Really shit luck mate

    Damn good call!

  • what Regal said.

Good idea, how do you go about 'proving' that it's been resprayed? I mean in a legal way, if it comes to that.

  • You don't need that balaclava then, right?
I carry it around with me, but i only use it at 5:30 in the morning when i need to go to gym. Mostly off unless its below an unbearable 10'C.

There's pink paint showing through from underneath the black where it's been chipped. The painting in of the pantographed bits is pretty shoddy too, I find it hard to believe it would have left the factory like that. I expect you could find some photos of genuine original paint jobs for comparison. You might even be able to prove that it's not an original Rossin colour scheme.

  • A good LBS can do an accident report to present to insurers when your bike has been in a bump, it should follow that some shops could do a similar report expressing their professional opinion regarding your paint.

  • can we move all of this to the thread in bikes and bits? I keep thinking there's new popcorn every time someone posts here...

    no, *you're *a cunt.

    better?

  • All these chat about the bike itself should be in here;

    Fucking cunts.

  • Shouldn't you be giving unwanted advice over on the ladies forum, Ed?

  • Fucking cunts.

^fucking hypocritical cnut. I thought you said I was stirring by dragging the blb thread up.

  • Two unrelated events. I did; you were. Please explain why I am being hypocritical.

You just fucking love the drama, James.
