  • wow, there are some sad people.

whatever the truth is about MJ, he was genius. and like some overly talented people, was misinterpreted and as a result lived a life of torcher.

when i heard i had a de ja vu sensation, flash backs of when i heard the news of diana and hutchence...

  • So what's your favourite MJ outfit?

I like the power-crazy African tin pot dictator look.

    I hope you're being ironic?

Replace *overly *with just about and you'll be nearer the mark. Lest we forget this 'genius' had his hey day a long long time ago and then spent the last 20 years trading on past glories. He hasn't meant anything musically for so long it's not funny...

  • feel gutted...

amazing video, thanks for sharing. RIP MJ. what a genius.

  • the doctor did it

  • It was OJ or possibly lee Harvey Oswald.

  • Well now, I've been watchin all the comin and going about MJ on this forum and it seems that people have mixed views on the man.
Only natural, people being different and all.

But it does seem that some are getting het up about the opinions of others.

So here's my take, for what its worth.

The man had the most abnormal childhood imaginable which lead to more then a few personality issues in later life. A symptom of this upbringing and the associated isses was that he was a musical genius.
Another symptom was that he formed some strange and not very healty relationships, which inturn led to scandal and unproven allegations (although its pretty obvious that he bought his way out of the trouble he had gotten himself into).
He also denied his heritage and tried to model himself as an eternal child, again indicative of fairly deep seated problems, probably caused by the aforementioned childhood.

So in a way I feel sorry for the man, in another way I respect his talent (and truley love some of the music), and in yet another way I despise some of his behavior.
But its all moot now, he is gone and eventually we will all follow.

I don't dig all the wailing and crying, equally I don't dig lambasting a dead man.
But he was what he was and, as I said earlier, we all have an opinion.

  • I'm avoiding using stumbleupon, there will be too many Wacko Jacko stuff like there was when Obama won.

  • I hope you're being ironic?

Wacko's appeal was very similar to that of Elvis (Presley not Costello) in his latter years, he mainly appealed to the emotionally needy, and TBH, people who are a bit 'special'

did she say, "what the fuck has that got to do with tennis?" ?

  • The British Government had him killed to draw attention away from their shambolic and corrupt attempts to turn the country into a living hell for those who earn less than 30K a year.

  • monkey fucking aint natural lets not forget the man had intercourse with chimps and wrote a love song about a rat.
    that shits fucked up.

  • Go straight to 1mn45 if you want the Billie Jean part... from the french turntablister DJ Cut Killer

  • Genius my arse…

he was good but he was no stevie wonder - let's see if there are the same amount of bedwetters blubbering when Stevie goes to that great vocoder in the sky

  • Shitty Death.

I am being subjected to the usual dose of Eastenders by the wife (no, I don't have a choice actually, I have no friends). There is a reference to MJ's death made by the Truman family (naturally) which must have been shot today and inserted. WABOC.

  • I can't believe they're actually being forced to talk about this on Any Questions. Any Questions.

  • I am too old to have heard anything that Michael Jackson may have sung. He was clearly not a talented musician as, if he had been, I am sure he would have pierced my consciousness. He was by all accounts a talented showman with a knack for getting himself in the press. As such, his death is everywhere like all that of all dead media whores before him. I find the post mortem divination of people like Jackson and Diana Spencer rather distasteful.

  • why is 'genius' getting branded around so much now, the guy last night on BBC was saying it like he was getting paid on commission for every time he used it, it's like one of the media buzz words that gets used to brand events, like WMD or climate change.

I think he's an incredible dancer & singer but a genius? certainly not. I don't remember him being called genius during any of his court cases, in fact quite the opposite stance was taken by his defense.

    Michael Jackson was very talented:

'Talent hits a target no one else can hit; Genius hits a target no one else can see'

  • He was clearly not a talented musician as, if he had been, I am sure he would have pierced my consciousness.

You are kidding, right? If not then you need to take some time to let me know what does 'pierce your conscience' so that I don't pursue my current path into a cultural abyss.

  • I can't believe they're actually being forced to talk about this on Any Questions. Any Questions.

just how are they being forced to talk? Is it coming from Guantanamo this week?

  • 'Talent hits a target no one else can hit; Genius hits a target no one else can see'
Ty Charco for that really awesome quote. Its really good. Who coined it ?

  • just how are they being forced to talk? Is it coming from Guantanamo this week?

By being asked questions about it from the conspicuous grief mob rending their hair in the audience. Poor Hilary Benn had to emote (unconvincingly) to order.

Oh, and this from the incomparably thick Robin Gibb:

“I think he was a victim of society as it were no less than Oscar Wilde was 100 years ago."
