• Last year was so much fun, I'll defo be up for this again!

    xxx
    Glad to hear it! x

  • forgot to ask, what's the date?

All jokes aside, I got the dates confused for this last year, so might be worth making it crystal exactly what date/night this ride leaves on, just in case someone else gets confused ; )

As for cafe recommendations, there is the legendary Regency Cafe in Pimilico/SW1 that I would recommend. Insanely good grub and quite an experience..http://russelldavies.typepad.com/ateaandathink/2004/06/regency_cafe_17.html

  • @ Poots. That looks like a good place but would they be willing to open up an hour or two earlier than norm?

I'm in for this year's ride too :-).

  • I could ask...how many people would be eating - any idea?

  • Me!!!

  • BREAKFAST LIST:

    1. cafewanda
    2. conker (ian) - sausage, bacon, eggs, tomatoes, toast. Tea white-no sugar

it's 2.15am as i write this, and I'm getting hungry

  • ^ is this just for forumengers?

  • Am happy to sort/look into for non-forum types Miss M : )

  • I'm so up for this.
I didn't go last year because i got totally confused with dates.
Just to check, will it be the evening of Wednesday 20th June, going into the morning of Thursday 21st June?

  • @missmouse

actually, it was just for fun, but on reflection it's probably a good idea. you could also have a southwark/greenwhich cyclists list as well and combine all three when near the date so the cafe owner would have some sort of idea what to expect

  • Right, we have two leaders (a couple who met on the ride actually - awww).

The ride will be similar but with the following change at the end:

    2am Cutty Sark Gardens
2.30am Southwark Needle (south end of London Bridge)
3am Bar Italia 25 Frith Street
4.30am on the top of Primrose Hill
6am Regents Canal to Lock 7 in Hackney (I know they would lay on
    something special for us)

    Exciting!

    Alex

  • I'm up for this this year. Need to organise getting home exhausted as the kid wakes up but it'll be worth it.

  • Bring the kid? Not the same but people have brought their dogs in the past.

Just to get this TOTALLY clear in my brane, midsummer day is June 24th, right? So the ride leaves at 2am on the 24th, which is a sunday?

Awesome! Time for a list? Please!!

    1. missmouse
    2. la poots
  • ^ NO!!!!

The ride is in the early hours of the longest day, which this year is Wednesday 20 June. (It was 21 June last year.)

    Axx

  • See! Exactly why clarification is needed ; )

  • So, list for Wednesday 20 June:

    1. midsummermouse
    2. la poots

If you add your name, you have to add a fact (or fantasy) about Summer Solstice:

The only moon of Midsummer is the Honey Moon, a time when the hives are harvested for honey. Fermented honey is the ancient drink of the Gods, known as mead, and customarily drunk at wedding parties. The roots of the modern day "honeymoon" survive in current customs.

  • ^ you don't have to btw :)

  • Please do! Last year was so much fun - especially the fry-up at the end. If you could organise a more exciting dawn, then it would be perfect.

    K

    Exactly.

    Miss M,
Just to clarify again the date of the ride (seeing as you put down Wed and Thursday within a few posts of each other- I realise they were a few days apart, :-) Is the ride this year the night of Tues 19th? So actually starting at 2 am on Wednesday 20th? Since you said the 20th is actually the longest day this year?

  • Well done for spotting my deliberate mistake ;) (tired, rushing, distracted by DD...)

    Yes, it's 2am-6am weds 20th!

    Thanks!!

  • is this trip just for the ladies?

  • No. Everybody's welcome.

Solstice fact: Going for a much needed wee against the perimeter fence of Stonehenge at solstice is an offence officially called: Urinating on a world heritage site.
    Looking forward to this one!
