    1. Start threads with 'fixie' in the title and scratch your head when Velocio changes them to 'fixie-skidder'.

    This doesnt work.

Hilarious. One chap suggested that we have a race around Richmond Park against their forum.

Also, some of their comments about our forum's demographic are quite hilariously ironic when you consider what this thread is actually about.

  • On the other hand, they could just be jealous of our high standards of banter. Here's their version of the SCR thread

    "C***!"

    "LOL"

    "Haha that c*** said c***!"

"Dude you are such a c***"

    "C***!"

"Nah mate it ain't funny now"

    "LOL yeh it is"

    "C***!"

"I fall of when I try to do a skid stop in Hoxton, am I a c***?"

    ad nauseam...

    "Cunt!"

It's their derailleurs that pull them to the right. Neo-nazi-middle-aged-before-their-time-daily-express-reading-middle-england-inhabiting twerps.

I know. I was trying to tempt him.

  • He's a liar.

  • and he steals things.

  • This is the Friday Pop Corn thread isn't it. The bikeradar thread is all kinds of awesome.

  • I'm saddened they didn't include my username, which is the same on bikeradar, in my original quote. Cunts.

    ;p

  • i love bikes

  • I just read that thread. Bikeradar is a bit... bland.

  • It has moderators and rules about insulting other members. Most of the regulars on here would be banned within minutes, mainly for insulting each other.

  • Read it again - someone's finally made an intelligent point...

  • Ha - nice one BMMF

I'd say there's a lot of common ground between hybrids and the contemporary generic fixie anyway. They're both semi-upright bikes with slick tyres, predominantly used for commuting.

All this tribalism seems like a way of creating an outlet for pent up road rage. I think rather than racing around Richmond Park, we should all get together down there for a massive orgy.

You couldn't possibly mean this one, could you?

  • It makes my head hurt jumping between here, BikeRadar, STW and mleh.

I did that on a previous fora I ran. The problem with it is that it's very very easy to not call someone a cunt, but instead for you and your mates just to make sarcastic and snide comments which all individually cannot result in any action by moderators but collectively do indeed hurt the victim/s quite badly. What you end up with is a forum in which the bullies remain and the weaker elements get slowly run out of town. The mods also end up with a shitload of animosity thrown at them for having to attempt to enforce practically unenforceable rules.

If LFGSS became anything like that description, I'd shut the place down and move on.

I much prefer that there is no censorship, that there are by and large few rules (guidelines really because they're mostly not enforced) mostly based on etiquette and that we don't have moderators applying their subjective interpretation of the rules.

BikeRadar is a publication in essence, they've made themselves liable for what is said on the forum by having a moderation process that results in an editorial policy (what you can and cannot say) being applied and enforced.

LFGSS on the other hand is a communications service, and you are liable for what is said in your posts and I offer no editorial process whatsoever.

Scarlettp's a slut and does anal on the first date

  • Personally I think that because a lot of people on here actually know each other and meet in person regularly then it can tolerate insults better. Mainly because most of them are jest, or part of a long running gag, i.e. hippy is fat, dale is gay, etc.

Not every forum has that privilege. If it is one.

  • Oh, and I was asked to Goatse them all, or rick roll them or something. But why? They're cyclists, they're out there like us in the wind and rain, playing with traffic, getting narked at scooters... they're US. Shit, I think technically my custom Robin Mather is probably classifiable as a hybrid.

  • Shouldn't you ban yourself from the forum for that admission? ;p

  • It's single-speed in one configuration... so nope.

  • Fair enough. :-)

Btw, I agree with your sentiment about those Daily Mail-esque cunts being cyclists too. It's just they are so bloody earnest.

  • This could get interesting.. they're jealous.. it makes me feel warm inside. Oh, wait that's the beer.
