OK. Ahleks. Yes - silly.
Before you jump to taking all our silly advice on which tyre is better (Conti)
Remove your tyres,run your fingers round the rim, and inside the tyre checking for any sharp edges, maybe even replace the rim tape as a precaution - I rate the velox material stuff... while the rim tape is off, check none of the spokes are too long- if they are, file them down nicely.
When you put the new tyre in- put one side on, then the tube - Pump it up a little (this helps avoid pinching the tube before you've started). then get the other side on- if it's stiff, face the wheel side on to you, and roll your palms across the top, while nudging the edges in.
Make sure you pump up to 100psi or so, and if you do go straight at a curb, put as little weight as possible on the rear wheel as you do - this will avoid a "snakebite" or "pinch" puncture.

Next up, jostling. Every forum has it's fair share of new members being initiated by the old timers by some friendly ribbing. But sometimes this can go too far, especially if (without searching first) you ask an oft-repeated, tired, or dumb question in your first post. It's not pleasant to watch new members get ripped to shreds, and really I'm doing you the biggest favour by forcing you to search first and look around before you ask... the guys here can be merciless towards the new, so say hello first and search thoroughly before you ask stuff. The result, yeah there's still some jostling, but not much, and the place is a hell of a lot friendlier for it and that is priceless.
Quite a few of us have been on here for a couple of years now and at an average of 1 a week we get someone asking what bike should I buy, why do my legs feel funny, what are the very bestest tyres in the whole world, etc.
it gets a bit tedious after seeing the same question for the 30th time which is why you're encouraged to use the search facility
stop getting arsey, all you're getting is a bit of ribbing for not paying attention to an article you should have read, suck it up because you'll get loads more of it - but you'll also find a community which you can drink with, ride with, play polo with and who are very often there to lend a hand

Ok i bought a bike a while back typical bike ss/fg
was a bit worse for wear so i took it to be serviced in putney cycles,
they recommended the tyres they put on very highly (michelin kevlar somethings)
to cut a long story short they are crap and have given me an unbelieveable amount of punctures. most recently changed the inner tube today went for a half hour stroll ends up i get another one...can anyone recommend me some 700c 23s that will not do this to me ^^^

forgive me for trying to keep this forum alive....I spend hours of my pathetic life writing shit like how I feel about my lovely tyres and you fucking ruin it all by creating another thread about shit all which makes my lovely shit harder to find. Fail.
There are topics that HAVEN'T been covered that can become new threads. Repeating shit doesn't keep the forum alive it just makes the useful stuff harder to find in all the drivel.

Conti's rule. Have them on every bike i have... except some. but i have lots of bikes.. and the bikes that don't have them, don't for a reason... I did just order more today for one bike that doesn't. It will. then more will have conti's...I'm going to eat your first born child.. in front of you.
