Could not really make it past the first paragraph without being a wee bit sick in my mouth but thought i would post it up to inspire the intelligent debate and free thinking i am sure it will provoke...

  • wiganwill putting the world to rights in the comments section as always. love your work - even your difficult second album.

  • Someone posted a Guardian article on the Forum about a journo recovering at the RLH after a serious bike crash, i've UTFS on here and the Gaurdian site. Y I no find?

  • I think it was on the Times site not the Guardian, you got your political leanings mixed up!

I think I put that thread up if it was me then the paper you are looking for is the independent, easy to confuse with the gruniad

  • Is this the thread you are after?

  • Bang on Bobbo
Its my hospital (getting some rare praise in the press).
    Cheers mate

  • channeling Oliver Schick

at first i was all like "too fucking long? oliver's not particularly sweary is he?"

i love that they actually corrected the article to replace 'frankenstein' with 'frankenstein's monster'.

  • You should meet him in person, it's fucking this and fucking that. But his gentle German accent makes it sound charming.

  • i have a number of times. all the profanity must've slipped by unnoticed because i was so soothed by his teutonic tones.

  • that article in G2 helped me to explain to my mum the difference between fixed gear bikes, and anti-porn hipster death traps.

so not a complete waste of time. what I don't get is why blb provided pictures of such shit builds to be featured?

  • Why do they keep going to BLB? Why not go to 14bikeco or another bike shop?

  • exactly what I said to the old dear! I said if they're talking about custom bikes why not talk about 14 who build frames from scratch...

the author clearly has little knowledge on the subject and the article is most likely made up of conversations he overheard in starbucks.

  • They need to talk to/employ a clued up cyclist. Even just as a consultant the articles would be much improved, but they could keep the regular writers to make it nodder friendly

  • Helen Pidd is that ^^^
her piece saturday in the weekend mag reviewing a Giant lekky assisted bike was right on the button.
maybe they are taking the suggestions made upthread seriously and doing a bike review each week instead of the grovelling, vomit inducing car sales that appear.

  • So if, say, just hypothetically, a sarcastic northern ponce wanted to contribute to the Guardian's bike blog how would they go about it?

Did you get anywhere with this? I saw that he gave you his email address, or was he too pissed of with you hijacking of the comments thread to let you write for his paper?

    First I was like ???,
then I was like le Google,
    then I was like LOL.

There is a reason for a four for a for.

He wasn't pissed off at all. I haven't got round to putting any ideas together though.

  • Will be interested to read any article that you come up with, although I do appreciate that it can be hard to come up with inspiration to get started with something like that. All the best with it.

  • List of potential subjects for Will's first article:

    1. Helmets.
    2. The definitive guide to bicycle porn.
  • Ive heard Balki wears a skort
