  • Sorry for your loss.

  • Riccardo, thanks for posting this.

No-one forgets a victim of a lorry crash in a hurry. There are many names that are still very much with me in my memory of people who have lost their lives cycling in London. Emma's will be one of them.

Critical Mass could visit the scene of the collision tomorrow, but this is not usually done unless it is requested by the victim's family or friends, so unless you/they wanted this, it might not happen.

I wholeheartedly agree with many things in the message left on the wall. There are many initiatives to make cycling safer and more enjoyable, but even though collisions have fallen a lot, the one area where this has been really difficult to achieve has been in HGV/cyclist collisions.

I am shocked that the driver appeared to want to leave the scene.

If you need to talk about what you saw and felt, you can contact RoadPeace, the national charity for road crash victims, for confidential and sensitive support.

I am so sorry that Emma died in this way and wish you and all who were close to her all the strength that you need. My sincere condolences.

  • deepest sympathies for your loss

  • i am really sorry riccardo

  • Riccardo,

please pass on my deepest sympathy to Emma's family. This is very sad reading and it is very brave to write these words, but equally important for all members to read. I have no legal advice but pray that justice is appropriate for Emma.

Please keep the pressure on witnesses to come forward. This forum is a good start for this.
I will ride to the spot tomorrow to read tribute to Emma.

Suggest posting tribute on this forum, with a new thread, memorial ride details (make sure you get Emma's family consent first) could be added later when date and route is established.

Lastly I hope you are okay, but please get as much help as possible. This is very important, because you will need all your strength / energy to get through such an shocking ordeal.

    best
    Alan

  • So sad, my thoughts are with you and her family.
    Stay strong Riccardo.

  • So sorry to hear this.

  • This is so incredibly sad. Condolences.

  • My deepest sympathies.

  • Riccardo, so sorry to read this. That poster is beautiful.

  • how sad. rip.

  • Riccardo, so sorry for your loss.

  • Riccardo, I am so sorry. I don't know what else to say... its so sad.

  • I'm so sorry.

  • Riccardo, thankyou for posting, this must have taken a lot of courage after everything you've been through. We are all thinking of you and Emma, and her family. Please pass on our deepest sympathy for your tragic loss.

  • This is so sad. I'm so sorry for your loss, I can't even imagine what you must be feeling right now.

I take that route so much and its scary to think what can happen out there. Incidents like this bring home how vulnerable we all are and puts in check my arrogance of"I'll never get hit, it won't happen to me" which I know is not a good attitude to have.

As has been noted already in this thread please look out for eachother on the roads. We only have other cyclists to watch our backs as there is no chance any other road users are going to do it for us.

  • Deepest sympathy.... thoughts & prayers to Emma, Riccardo, friends & family, as well as the other people who witnessed this dreadful loss of life.

  • That's one of the most horrific tales yet. Completely unnecessary death that everyone should know about.

Ale, DEH I hope you are both ok and my thought's are with Emma's family and Riccardo.

    A sad loss
