  • Seems there's no hope for us. shakes head

"Tragic accident but accident nonetheless. Either cyclists have to take much much greater care or we all need to accept that London's roads are not suitable for cyclists."

    - Susie Blake, London

"Her death could also have been prevented had she decided not to cycle on a horrendously busy, inner city road that wasn't designed for cyclists.

    Just saying!"

    - Sarah Bradshaw, Enfield, Middx

  • ^those two are the most retarded

  • 'The safest way not to die as a cyclist - don't cycle. it is little more than a vainity exercise and people would be far better if they walked when possible and used public transport when not.

    • Jeni, Belfast, UK'

    What a fucking bellend!

  • Here's a few other comments from the stupid biatch:

I can guarantee you this will NEVER happen and that Boris has been prepped to say it by his beloved Cameron to make the Tories more attractive to the deodorant-resistant, 2-wheeled-pavement-riding, red-light-shooting, uninsured, aggressive, arrogant, believe-they-are-above-the-law scum otherwise known as cyclists. The day that lot take over our streets I will emigrate.

OK, so theoretically dog poo can cause blindness, but isn't it funny how all the millions of us managed to grow up without going blind from it? Has anyone out there ever actually met anyone that's gone even slightly blind from dog poo? I think it is one of those risks that must be so incredibly minuscule that it is far outweighed by the enjoyment of walking dogs and seeing dogs run free. Unlike cyclists who bring no enjoyment to anyone but themselves. In other words, selfish people!

  • Condolences to Ricardo, but i believe the jurno didn't understand what ricardo meant by get in front hence it being picked up by some of the comments.

But some people that made comments seem to have a real axe to grind. Yes there are idiots on bikes and they are the 99% that are remembered. Many completely forget/do not register the cyclist that they do not draw attention as there is no interaction.

  • I just can't get over the disrespect. Nobody deserves to die like that, and the fact that people seem to forget that a life was lost in this incident before they start mouthing off just goes to show how disconnected and desensitised people can become from reality. They clearly have zero empathy. :(

RIP. Again, no idea what small thing I could do that would help at all, but if there is anything, I will do.

  • Just read the article which is a sad, sad read... And then the comments, which made want to come out lock in hand smashing car drivers heads... What's all that people about? Cyclist runing lights etc, show me a fucking lorry driver killed by a cyclist breaking the highways code! That guy drove to a point where he wouldn't be able to see her... and it's her fault ?!!

All those anti cyclist are just frustrated their clunky polluting machines can't catch a leg powered simple thing. RIDE A BIKE YOU CUNTS!

  • RIP Maria.

  • wtf:
Come on! She was a foreign student who didn't know her way around London roads

she should have been more careful!

    - Richard, London

..anyway, Ricardo I hope you are well and RIP Maria

Rather cunty thing to say at such a time, about as insensitive as possible. BUT there is sadly a lot of truth in what she says. Until the appropriate authorities take (moral, legal, financial) responsibility for road users of ALL kinds, we will still be dicing with death on the streets for years to come.

it gets better: i would love to meet this lady. bet she is a fat under-sexed house wife

    Bob, London

Jean Charles de Menezes was not an innocent person, he was living in this country illegally. As for his family, they have milked the situation for compensation, wasting £millions of British taxpayers' money and bringing the good names of police officers into disrepute. People die all the time and their families don't get a bean, therefore I feel their demands should not even have been entertained and I know I am far from being the only person that feels this way. So I'm sorry but if you want to make an argument for not having Tazers then bringing up the name of someone like that is not going to crack it.

  • I have a feeling this summer could see the rise of abuse towards cyclists. the comments on that report were senseless. they really had no respect.
That said a great number of people came out with sensible suggestions. hopefully those weapons that wrote the myopic drivel went back to check on who they wound up and the more sensible comments might have struck a cord.

Where are the skinheads when you need them?

  • She doesn't like the idea of the Met advertising for lesbian and gay police to guard Our Beloved Queen, in an effort to employ 'minorities';

To anyone who is misguided or naive enough not to fully realise what this means - having an equal opportunities policy means that provided the applicants fit the basic criteria of the job spec then they are guaranteed an interview. If there's more than one person of that minority who fit the basic criteria then you can easily end up with ALL the interviewees being there being chosen ahead of anyone who doesn't tick the minority box. This means that if you are white, heterosexual and able-bodied there is no point applying for these jobs. End of story.
