  • In an attempt to cut down on the number of killings caused by speeding cyclists, Bournemouth council have decided to make good use of our tax money to help enforce the 10mph speed limit on the promenade.

  • thank god someone is finally doing something about this menace which threatens the very fabric of our society...

  • oh, by the way ta2 - COOOOOKIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

  • "peddling too fast" - what in the name of fucky fuck? Who writes this shit?

  • "Come on geezer, wanna buy a watch?"
    "Hey mate wanna new watch?"
"Oi, you, want a cheap watch"

"That's it son, you've tried to hawk those watches to too many people in the last minute.. I'm gonna have to bust you for exceeding our enforced peddling rate"

  • Next time I'm riding down the sea front I'll check my speedo (which is obviously compulsory on all bicycles) and make sure I don't exceed 10mph otherwise I'll get a stern telling off once they've tracked me down via my bicycle number plate and registration with the RVLA (Rider and Vehicle Licensing Agency).

What a silly proposal, made me chuckle for a few minutes though

  • The third pic in this article http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1191607/Police-waste-taxpayers-cash-stopping-speeding-cyclists-seaside-punishing-them.html
appears to refer to the girl injured after being hit by a cyclist but it looks like a bunch of bikes 'parked' whilst the riders enjoy the Zapcat racing on the sea.

    Got any Cartiers??

  • I think we have found the perfect venue for the next drag sprint event.

  • "Come on geezer, wanna buy a Soma?"
    "Hey mate wanna new Gaggia?"
"Oi, you, want a cheap camera, nah its supposed to be in 531 pieces"

"That's it son, you've tried to hawk these goods to too many people in the last minute.. I'm gonna have to bust you for exceeding our enforced peddling rate"

    Fixed.

  • Anyone from the lfgss been caught on their hols in Bournemouth, maybe they should be outed on this post so they learn a proper lesson?

  • Fixed.

Seriously though.. I got a nice Soma for sale.. and a Bezzera BZ99 espresso machine.. steam your bollocks off it will.. 'ardcore innit.. you know you want it.. I do you a deal.. come on man..

  • What in the blue fuck?? why can't they chase down reckless cyclists instead of speeding cyclists?

  • I wish they'd just shoot all cyclists on sight.. evil scum cyclists.

  • man sees woman with radar gun, man slows down. man passes woman, man speeds up laughing

  • Seems a bit pointless to me not only for the fact that I don't want to crash into someone as I will get hurt too....

Most people run faster than 10mph, catch them too?

oh, by the way ta2 - COOOOOKIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!
    :D

  • surprisingly positive comments from the daily mail website..

Yeah.. I'll post it anywhere in W5 or EC2.

Same thing with speed cameras, they don't judge dangerous driving, only driving over an arbitrary limit which someone (usually who has little knowledge in the area) has decided is the limit of safety.

Same thing, they do not work and they piss people off.

Officers will be down on the seafront on four dates this month to see how many cyclists currently break the 10mph speed limit.

They get paid for going on dates??? Now that is truly a waste of taxpayers' money!

it funny how a solution can be easily be incorporate but netherless it appear easier to put a speeding camera on the road instead of police officier in a 1.4 litres diesel car.

    Cue Daily Mail counter argument.

As someone with a decent background in traffic engineering I call total bunk on this argument. A lot of effort goes into designing roads and highways and a lot of factors are taken into account when selecting the speed limit for a section of road. Line of site and stopping distance are usually the main limiting factors and the thing that most motorists are totally unaware of. You have to provide the motorist with sufficient line of site to be able to spot a 0.5m high obstacle on the road and then have time to stop before hitting this object. This is to stop motorists running over things like pedestrians, crashed cyclists and animals all of which may end up lying in the middle of the carriageway. Most motorists are totally unaware of this kind of risk and will happily rip along, swearing at the "money grubbing police" using speed cameras to raise funds not stop accidents. There are some many factors of safety used in car and road design that the speed limit is in no way a reflection of the true speed a vehicle can travel along the road at, it is however a speed that will provide the majoprity of motorists with the safest most efficient journey.
