That was a damned good watch, once eurosport sorted their shit out.

He attacked Lance on the mountain - it was great, he came in with Evans and Armstrong in the main pack - really good ride from him. Up to 5th Place

• #854
Good stuff from Evans too. I kinda thought he'd have a quiet one this tour.
Another 2nd place?
The Aussies can only wait and see.

Contador for today, with great performance by Wiggins , unsure about Sastre, Armstrong will lose time, Schlecks will be solid but no fireworks....not sure if this is prediction, guess or hope.
Not far off!

great prediction winston. the breakaway group kept everyone on their toes, excellent stage win for Brice Feillu.. Contador was magnificient, timed his sprint to prefection, Wiggins inspirational ride to get 5th in the GC.. LA is very calculating and still in the mix, don't write him off yet..

grupetto / autobus has just rolled in 28mins later..

Great to see Cadel attempt to mix things up in the mountains, amazing acceleration from Contador when he broke away - hard to imagine anyone beating him thins year, oh well - Go Cadel!

Great stage to watch at the end loved it. I completely got everything wrong, never mind.

good work pigfarmer, pleasure to join you, fiddy and wibble for a decent finale there.
long way to go ls & gs. long way to go

Flat stages like today are boring.

It only really turned into a half decent stage with 4 kms to go.
It was a brave ride by Feillu, who showed real courage in going for it so far out and succeeding. Nocentini rode well too, and deserves his yellow.
Evans should've sat up earlier on his first attack, as all he did was string it out, but at least he tried. That should silence the sceptics for an hour or two.
Contador's attack was superb, showing once again that he is the best climber in the world. He needed to assert his authority on his own team today and he did that perfectly. The team has benefitted from Nocentini taking yellow as AG2R will defend the jersey tomorrow, taking the pressure off Astana.
Finally, what a ride by Wiggins! He was superb and his final acceleration had some of the best GT riders in the world scrambling to get on his wheel. Let's hope he can hold this level of form for 2 more weeks.

Wiggins has to be an outside bet for a top 3 or top 5 GC place if he doesn't blow up on a big hill. Not bad for a bloke who used to race at HH as a kid ...

Wow. Just watching the ITV4 highlights. Cancellara was so so quick going down them hills after his puncture trying to catch up with the pack. I'd have shat one big style!
-
• #866
yeh i'd like to see extended footage of that...anyone know where you could find it?
-
• #867
Did you see the bit where he cut across the front of the race doctor's car on a bend and was about an inch away from whacking his knee? He'd have needed a lot more than Dr Gerald Porte's box of magic pills and lotions if he had whacked it.

that was the highlight of the day - amazing footage of him descending at a rate of knots making look easier. so elegant.
the dr car was so close - there were also points where he swung through corners past motorbikes that were pretty close as well. -

I'm not sure if I saw the doctor's car bit. He passed a few cars I think. I was watching in amazement at how close he was getting to the barriers and cliff face for that racing line. Sheeeeeeeet.

Go on contador

it's great that wiggens is doing so well and cadel is up there. it's a bit of a pity that astana are so strong as they were able to have 2 controlling the race while contador jumped everyone (probably even jumped the astana people as well).
a great day really, with a tour rookie winning and one also taking the yelllow jearsey. -

Nice little interview with Wiggins after the finish on ITV4 highlights. He seemed well chuffed as well. Boy did good!
-
• #873
yep i'd buy him a pint but i'd worry he'd take it too far, again.
-
• #874
Another great day! Good to see Contador absolutely nailing it, what a legend. Wiggins was obviously over-the-moon afterwards as well getting very strong... as winston predicted!
