this thread is random.
quotation springs to mind...**"It is better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt"
(mark twain)
**this applies to tapping those keys on this forum too.
:)
You know what else he said?
"Learn to ride a bicycle. You will not regret it if you live."
Random... To ride a bicycle you've got to have one, to have one you might as well build it yourself, to build it you'll have to decide upon the parts and so we are back to Macs and Goldtecs. Anything but Goldtecs ;)

Mack hubs are the way, the truth and the life.
Erm, and my buddy David sells them.......
Seriously, tho', I like them..... and I would always go for 36's but this is because I am fat and reckless with wheels. I have a lovely 40 spoker rear on Campag... from the 80's when I was even fatter and more reckless.
Cheers,
S.

Are the £70 Goldtecs fix/fix or fix/free? I'm guessing that flip/flop indicates fix/free, in which case I might have to go for the cheaper Gran Compes.

I'd go for allen key fittings every time - no need to carry a fucking 15mm wrench/box spanner in addition to a multi-tool.
Changeable weather we've been having recently.

True, but you can't spread peanut butter with a multi-tool, so you're stuffed at picnics if you have A/K hubs.

That's fine - if there's eating involved, I'm happier being stuffed.

this little pile of Polish precision engineering arrived on my door step today. Ironically my girlfriend is in Poland at the moment but they were easier to order from Buckinghamshire. Only took 48 hours.
They look and feel nice, but time will tell.. -

If you don't mind me asking how much did they set you back?

Yours must be from the remaining UK stock, the custom builds have a 7 week waiting list, got an email 2 weeks ago saying mine had been scheduled for making on the 11th July, they're not £120 anymore either. The cost of materials and manufacture has put them up to $250 US.
Once the UK stock is sold they'll only be customs available.

Mack drought. Prices set go through the roof.
-
• #145
£150 is still reasonable for custom

High flange standard including bolts and washers:
Front 255g
Rear single fixed 315g fixed/fixed 330gHigh flange superlight including bolts and washers:
Front 125g
Rear single fixed 190g flip flop 205gAccording to Mack anyway.
Waiting list is 9 weeks now :(
But I finally decided on Macks after Brixton sold the set of Phils that were meant to have my name on them, getting black superlights with blue washers and lockrings, even with new prices good value for the custom build choices. Think I made the right decision.
Even though they've got allen bolts ;)

Rather than me go into the docs from Mack and dig stuff out each time, do the links below work?
