Though not sure why you'd get that over a Terra Nova Laser Comp.

The Zephyros 2xl is on sale for £150 atm...
I snapped it up with a helium mat and some other bits and bobs for some autumnal escapism.

Speed - on paper it looks like the worst parts of a bivvy and a tent (lack of space and weight respectively). The upshot to something like the ridge raider is you can keep your sleeping bag and mat all inside, roll it up, strap it to the bike, ride like hell, find a flat-ish spot, roll it out, stick a pole/inflate (Gogo Elite) and climb in. Good when you're knackered and slightly more space ventilation/breath-ability (mesh door) than your standard bag.

Before I purchase, anything better than the Zephyros 1 for less than £100?
-
• #459
I do!
They're great, but you have to look after them. The material is quite delicate and you also have to remember to factor in the price for the liner if you want a condensation-free double skin tent. plus they pitch 'as one' which I feel is mega important.

Just seen mention of these in someones Highland Trail 550 write up...
http://www.trekkertent.com/home/home/3-stealth.html
Made in Scotland I think and designed for use with trekking poles, so you'd need to add 100-150g or so to the weight if you took real tent poles along with you... Going to have a look and see if there are any good/bad words about them later in the week.

If you think about it, you can easily just strap the poles on the top tube, as from the picture, it'll probably gonna be too small to cause interference.
I like the look of that, bit worried about stability.

Oh yeah, the poles aren't a problem, just figured it worth mentioning in case someone thought "650g tent, £150?! Shut up and take my money!!!" without reading.
Will update if I find any reviews/mentions of the tent later in the week, originally saw it mentioned here but nothing about how it performs (other than keeping midges out)
Have a set of the Bearbones poles waiting for me when I get back to work, going to have a go at the various ways of pitching a tarp with them weekend as I'll have access to a garden and cold beer.

TN Laser Comp is da Bomp. No way it'll fit 2 people even slightly comfortable though.

MSR Fury is a surprisingly spacious tent and pretty light. Two can sleep in it happily, though the eskimo type entrance isn't great if you're tall - I bought mine from Mountain Rescue for £100.00, and it's the best tent I've used, but Terra Nova are very awesome it has to be said.

Hi al.
I'm selling a brand new Hoolie 3 Etc tent here:
http://www.lfgss.com/conversations/254269/
Sad to let this go but I'm leaving town and have had to change my touring plans. For my money the best tent for 2 people touring - good value, great quality, loads of space and good weight.

I want to get a lightweight tent for two.
Consensus seems to be: get a Laser Competition 2I have two questions:
- The Laser Photon 2 is a bit lighter, for a bit more money. Why not get one of those?
And - Where is cheapest to get either of these?

Don't know about where to get stuff in UK, but try looking for second hand. I got my TN Laser Comp 1 for €175 last year.

Thanks machine. I just went ahead and ordered a Photon from Taunton Leisure.
I'm going up Sugar Loaf with it.
I'll report back if it all goes tits up. -

I'm quite tempted. Does anyone have any experience with Coleman tents. They seem very cheap and fairly lightweight.
-
• #472
@Tomo187 I had a Coleman pretty similar to that a few years ago. Was decent ish, fairly light and stood up to quite a bit of weather. Was very cheaply made though, didn't take long for the zips to break and webbing/peg loops etc to come unstitched . Binned it in the end! Buy cheap, buy several times....

Coleman camping equipment requires the insurance of travelling by car: I wouldn't risk cycling or hiking with it.

Cheers @bombadil and @withered_preacher. They are incredibly cheap even when not reduced, and there has to be a reason for that. Advice taken gracefully.

Awesome camping website that has a tent index,
Hilleberg have recently announced their Enan (PDF). 1.1kg packed, single pole, inner/outer can be pitched separately (although inner requires a few extra bits and pieces). Can't imagine it's that cheap though :(
