Maybe we can set up a scene like that to make our bikes fall in love with us as their saviour.
On a serious note though. So for leaving the bike unattended I'd need another lock. I've got one of these ~110g pink locks, ordered SUPERCHEAP about a year go from Planet X. I guess I'm gonna have to bring that one aswell then.

Planet X carbon eh? Have I said I like you Machine?
Thank you.
The picture quality is crap but you get the picture. Imagine it with the same white colour bar bag mouted. Oh wait it's already there, wow that looks good!
Then imagine it with a Revelate Designs Tangle frame bag and a 22 liter rucksack strapped to the seat & post. Also with a shorter stem so the saddle can be set back.
Riding a ride that will look a bit like the following. Though I will probably not pass the Jura region in France because I want to climb up to Planche des Belles Filles a bit more east of it. And between Grenoble (G) and Montpellier (H) there will be a slight detour to climb the Mont Ventoux.

Look awesome! the route you've chosen through Spain are great, but AVOID the cities in Spain as much as you can, they're a nightmare to get in and out.
They have the 4th largest motorway network in the world for a reason.
The route up to Andorra was the best and most comfortable climb I've done in the pyrenees with an average of 4%, you'll enjoyed it more than I did (was foggy and couldn't see the scale of the climb).
Keep the weight as low as possible in the bar bag, the bike will be harder to steer with too much weight due to the geometry.

Sounds all amazing exept for that I want to ride through Zargoza and Madrid. I'd probably regret is so much if I would have passed by the cities but not have visited them...

Understandably so, I have to go through Barcelona as it is a fantastic city and got friends there, but had a rude awaking when trying to get into the city via what look like a motorway where bicycle are actually allowed in.
Beware of your bicycle in Spanish cities, especially your bicycle which will look very inviting it's being a carbon bling bling white thing.

Anyone got a lightweight tent and sleeping bags my brother and I can borrow this summer (15ish - 22 July)?
We're cycling to Paris and watch the last stage of the tour. Hoping to do it with as minimal kit/cheap as possible and wild camp when able.
Will repay in beers, monies, or karma.
Thanks

I've not trawled through all the previous posts recently but i'm sur this tent has been mentioned several times previously - http://www.gelert.com/products/solo_tent
Gelert solo, one person tent. I picked one up on eBay for £35 and just spent the last ten days cycling around the Austrian Alps and into the Black forest in Germany - the tent worked perfectly, the weather was mainly warm and dry but I did have several periods of quite heavy rain - no problems at all though.
My only concern was that it would have an issue with condensation, and I'd heard other having the same issue - the solution: an Alpkit Bivvy Bag over my sleeping bag!
I'll definately use it again and would recomend it to anyone looking for a cheap tent!

1.5kg is not too shabby for a budget tent actually, surprised to hear you have issue with condensation.
Look really small, but seeing the photo of it in a compressor, it's pack down really small too.

Yeah tempted to buy one myself for a kayak.

I got a Gelert Solo as well and i too am really happy with it. Only downside is that the poles seem quite brittle. May replace them later on. And yes, it's tiny. You can't sit upright in it, but i do nothing but sleep in my tents. Great value though.

i can back the Gelert Solo. Cycled to the IOM TT twice with guys who brought Solos. Tiny tents but perfect if you solely sleep in your tent or want something to fall and roll into after a few bevs. Should be swerved by those with a fear of coffins or claustrophobia though. The small size means a tiny packsize and really good weight. I sold Gelert gear for a few years and dealt with the reps. They're a small company and their stuff is generally quite good, well designed and comes in at a nice price point.
edit: one of the boys got a local lass back to the field and into his Solo. Did he actually get the shunt? I can only speculate.
I've slept in a Tempest 200 too and they're a nice tent. Even though like Gelert Vango is pretty low end price point in the greater scheme, it's hard to fault their stuff. Except those pop up things. Very easy to get spares for their gear too.

I feel like using a tent is like cheating. Alastair of Alastairhumphreys.com quite aptly said, 'a tent is like a shit version of indoors.'
I'm thinking of buying a bivvy and a tarp instead... or should I just stop trying to be different and buy a tent?

You might change your mind if the weather turn for the worst.
It's just his own opinion, do what you want, it is your tour, not his.

I might be able to lend you my MSR Hubba thought.

Use a damn tent. I had this end-of-July crazy storm in the Alpes that wrecked a family's big ass tent so they had to put their kids in the car while cleaning the mess and book a hotel. I was safe in my 1p tent but I wouldn't have been with a bivvy 'n tarp.

Looks tight but fooking nice!
Yeah, my plan is that on trying to pick the bike up and carry it off.....the alarm would wake me up and i then dash out my tent and rescue the bike from the git who tried to move it........if that's good thinking or not is yet to be tested. Wouldn't use it for leaving the bike unattended anywhere.
