Having come from a MTB background, the Langster seemed like a good introduction to the fixed wheel world. I love mine.

I got hold of a 2013 Langster so I have something to ride until the driver pays out, swapped the wheels for a set made by Varno and when I have some cash I'll be changing the crank. Possibly the bars too. Rode it for the first time today and I have to say I'm quite impressed, it's very stiff and responsive and noticeably lighter than my Rychtarski I had prior to getting knocked.

I was debating going for a 2013 langster through a ride to work scheme. They dont look too bad!

You already changed a lots of part before riding it?

I have to say they look better in the flesh, they are well spec'd for the price too in my opinion. It does come across from close inspection and riding it that they have made a bike that would perform well on the track.

I bought the wheels before I bought the bike, was going to build something but I needed a bike asap so couldn't wait around for funds etc, my parents kindly bailed me out and lent me the case for it. I'd say the wheels were the only part letting the bike down, they were very basic. The wheels I bought off Varno were lighter and I chose a fixed/fixed threaded rear hub.

My 2011 Langster Pro I got a couple of weeks ago, has miche primato cranks and wheels from Varno. A dream to ride! Got some T2 bulls on it now too.

Recently took the guards off my 2006 Langster and treated it to it's new summer wheels. The guards and crappy wheels it came with will go back on in Octoberish ready for another winter of grinding out the miles...
It has always been a surprisingly good ride, fast yet comfortable, but swapping the wheels out for something with decent bearings and lighter rims has improved it no end: it seems to purr along.

Ah, another 2006! A fine vintage. I see you have the original straight blade alloy fork. I was expecting it to be brutal so put a lot of extra padding under the bar tape to provide some cushioning but the fork was surprisingly comfortable.

Love that 2007 brown. Your build looks ace. I thought that apart from the colour the frameset was the same but I see they went to an integrated headset on yours. Mine has a traditional external ahead.

ta bro , just ordered a planet x full carbon fork to replace stock one , got one on my daughters Superlight Team and is really nice to ride and much lighter than stock .
I think the 2006 langster was more "track" and the geometry of 2007 onwards was more like the Allez road bike . I love my Langster , built from frameset bought in 08 for £99 from Pearsons . if my garage was on fire it would be the bike I grabbed , even tho it tried to kill me 3 weeks ago when it broke both my elbows , wrist and both hands ! -

Feckin heck!! Sounds nasty. Obviously you can type but get well soon!
Interesting that you think the geo changed. Any reason why you think that? It's got mounts for a rack so I'd be surprised if it was pure track geo. it feels lively on the road but not over twitchy. Perfect really. Not sure if its the bike I'd grab first but I'd definitely head back into the blaze for it ;-)

Ello. Glad theres loads of langster love, and its not just me!
The rear on my 2007 (yup, the rust brown one) has finally died, so time to get a new rear. I havnt really bought much componentry before (well, except a bling gold stem from Planet X, a goldie looking chain and decent pedals).
Anyone got any recommendations? (I ride with a freewheel).

Yeah, Black and a sort of Gun metal metallic grey. I have to say I'm really impressed by it, I took the track grips off the other day and added some bar tape all over as the bare tops were too harsh and slippery. They get a lot of slack but the 2013 langster is a fantastic bike!
