  • They do actually look quite nice built up, anyone got any idea on weight of these things built up? Is imagine they are quite light being ally and all.

They aren't. One Finnish guy (on a Finnish forum) bought the frame and built it up, but in no way can one describe the frame as being light.

"Weight: 700C x 470-590MM Frame 1950-2240 grams (include frame + drop out + bolt,), Fork 750 grams, Headset 126 grams."

  • I also posted this in the current projects thread, but I bought one of these frames off ebay last week. Going to build it up with Velocity Deep V's onto formula hubs, SR/Stronglight chainset with Atac pedals, Regal E saddle and profile air wing bars. Hopefully it will be a nice ride and just going to use it as my hack bike cos I don't care if it gets scratched or whatever, while I build my Mercian to period correct 60's spec.

  • and me and jamie are totally radding up the paintjob too right?

  • cool.

  • go to bed killer

  • Right, got my frame a last week. Still waiting on the all black deep V's from america cos im an idiot and need to pay customs. Didnt have to pay customs on the frame though.
Initial impressions are that it doesnt seem bad quality and its pretty dam stiff. Not too harsh a ride though. The front forks are a bit loose, but I think thats down to me not installing the headset properly. But it works fine as it is so Im leaving it, cant really notice it while riding anyway.
Here's some photo's of it built up:

  • One of the leads fixed gear guys was given one to try out i think, maybe look on their blog to see their review?

  • They're not going to be massively different. Go with whichever you prefer the look of

  • 'spotter' has owned a visp in plain black since november, so drop him a line if you want to know more about the frame, but i have ridden it also, its pretty light and tough. only down sides i can see is that it requires a pretty curious seat post size, and when he ordered the frame the company sent him the wrong size (which is a massive ball ache when its bieng sent from china).

  • Hi guys, been lurking around for a while getting some ideas here and there.

Just finished my new fixie to go to work on.

My last fixie I had was nearly 20 years ago when I used to ride to 18km school everyday.

Frame and forks Visp TRX790 58cm with supplied Cane Creek headset and OTA seatpost and clamp.

I had the frame sandblasted and painted in a metallic candy blue colour by a friend who mostly paints hotrods.

Sram 48t S100 crankset with Powerspline 108mm BB, Sram Rival brakes, Sram TT500 brake levers (were anodised red, now satin black powered coat)

    YBN chrome half link chain.

BBB seat, BBB 420mm bullhorns and BBB black bartape

    PRO PLT 110mm headstem.

Pro-lite Rosa rims running 16tooth ATM and 23mm Gatorskin hardshells.

    The pedals are Shimano

The total weight was 9.500kg, which I thought was pretty good considering the lack of carbon components and Alum frame.

    Rides really good

    Cheers Angelo

  • The ebay description says it has a high tensile fork stearer, which is not where I'd like HT to be, but then at 750g for the fork it maybe has quite a thickness of steel?

  • I never noticed that before. It's just the steerer tube, not the whole fork. I didn't have any trouble cutting it with a pipe cutter though so assumed it was alu.

  • Sumo have you got any pics of your visp with the deep v's on?

  • No cos customs fucked me around and they got returned to the states. Don't want to spend any more money on it atm as I'm saving for a new build.

  • They look daft.

  • Get back in the nursery.

  • ok so i just saw the new model of the on the bay, and I have to say they look pretty nice, thier basically the exact same as a leader but a lot cheaper to get one to ireland its 165 (145 pounds) euro including shipping with a headset. Anyways im seriously considering getting one of these but i can't seem to find any real reviews on the new one so i was just wondering if anyone has and what are their thoughts

here one i found built on velo space

    http://velospace.org/node/27796

  • looks the same as the old one apart from the seat clamp area. That frame design is being used by quite a few companies at the moment.

  • the seat clamp area on the last on is why i didn't buy one it was nasty imo

  • fair enough. I'm sure I've written something about how mine is in this thread. The new one can't be all that different.

  • also looks like the wheel arch is more pronounced

  • Looks like my Edwardes, but with slightly shitter welds and slightly different chainstays.
    (and much cheaper)
    Woe :(

  • That's the spitting image of Bike 14's steel track frame.

  • Found one in white, it looks much [well, barely] cruder. Phew.
    (white edwardes for comparison)
