  • what about next c.mass day? 29th. all up for it to meet under Marble Arch, plenty room there-mass trackstand then all spin down park lane to Waterloo.
if thats too organised then someone could post meet place on this thread on the day- everyone in vicinity goes there

  • I track standededed while i waited for a train the other day, 14 minutes, then my mate went and put his leg in the way. :P

I'm up for a mass trackstand off.

  • I've read that original post three or four times now, I still don't understand what's post-worthy about it.

I was able to do something that I was not capable of doing before. Hurrah for me, I'm still pleased.

I can understand not finding it post-worthy on the first reading, but if you're going to read it three or four times, you're just wasting your own time.

so the starting lfgss track stand record stands (verified or not who cares) at 14 minutes........

  • Well if the current world record is 1 hour and whatever... I reckon i'll go further than lfgss records! :P

But seriously, that's not long at all for a trackstand. Give me my freewheeled trials bike and i'll do it for days.

  • fantastic! can you post a link, to it--been looking for that for ages,
    I could piss that too!!!

  • I don't think there's gonna be footage easily avalible, according to the quote it was back in 1967...

  • even better-- that NEEDS to be broken--and WE need to do it just for the gag.
Please post the quote and source--thanks!

  • I did a trackstand whilst being conveyed over the Thames by the Woolwich Ferry.
Made it the whole way across until horatio bumped into my wheel as we were coming into dock.

    Hooray me.

  • nice one^
just did 21 minutes, clipped in in the lounge, touched brake once.
main things on this challenge will be arm fatigue.
need to find out what the exact criteria are as well.
totally serious about breaking the stupidest record ever..

  • is the 'in competition' bit in reference to a race on a track or a trackstand competition?

  • Wasn't there some track race that was basically hours of trackstanding, the one guy won because the other guy fainted?... Italian I think?

  • ^^^^
That post made me open this thread for the first time.

  • Wasn't there some track race that was basically hours of trackstanding, the one guy won because the other guy fainted?... Italian I think?

That sounds like what was mentioned earlier.. 1 hour 7 minutes or something and the other guy fainted..

was it hot that day then?
    shoulda drunk more water.........

  • I actually managed to do a trackstand the other day downhill. This might not sound too impressive, but considering I did it on my Marin Hawk Hill, Downhill and I have a freewheel which only engages 50% of the way round and the fact I two breeze block for feet I was quite chuffed.

This sounds like an excellent plan. Quite dull and very nerdy.

    I will try tonight.
Though I don't expect to be breaking many records.

  • Guinness World Record: Longest Track Stand on a Mountain Bike freewheel (21.34 seconds)

Couldn't find a record for fixed gear, but you'd need to make it a real endurance time like 48 hours to be a worthy record.

  • Whaaaaat? 21 seconds!

  • ^

I thought the same thing as well. I was thinking "that can't be right, I seen guys pull trackstands in vids for longer"

  • It's not that much harder track standing on a freewheel... give me a slight incline and I would piss all over that 10 fold. I'm going to practice in the living room tonight and I bet I could hold it for a whole episode of The Bill.

  • Easier by far to learn on a freewheel as you can just set your front wheel then find the balance point.
Don't have to plan where you are going to stop and have the feet in the right place, nor does every shift of your foot go through the whole transmission.

  • apparently you look like a gimp trackstanding with a freewheel.

  • I'm shit at trackstanding, I can only just make it though a lights change, its a lot easier on a freewheel bike. This thread has inspired me to learn to be better! I'm off work tomorrow, my gf will be out, I spy a whole day learning to do it in the lounge. This is what bike forums should be about! Knife Appropriation Fuck Off!

  • once you get it, and hold it that first time, it's easy.
i find it much easier on my lo-pro for some reason.
