Trecartin, (born 1981, Texas, USA) is an artist and film maker based in LA. He is one of the most innovative young artists working with video today and was recently part of the Liverpool Biennial 2010. He makes fantastical video narratives collaborating with an ensemble cast of family and friends, where he merges sophisticated digital manipulations with footage from the Internet and pop culture, animations, and wildly stylized sets and performances.*

The courses went on sale at mac today. They sell out pretty fast. Best to get a booklet, our website sucks.

Course is quite vague I suppose and you do actually learn stuff in pilates kinda...
I just drum and print stuff there, dont ask me about useful stuff!

There's a toolkit on pitching and presenting at Extra Sepcial People tonight, 6.30pm Eastside Projects. £4 or £2 conc.

Zines, comix, art and radical culture

Details of this year's event
This year's London Zine Symposium with be the seventh annual event and will be packed full with stalls selling zines, comix, handmade onjects, prints, radical books and other DIY items. Plus there will be a full programme of workshops, talks and even a radical history walking tour of the surrounding area.

Stall holders
From Belgium, Germany, Holland, Italy, Finland and across the UK we will have over 60 stalls at this year’s Symposium. A fuller list can be found at http://www.londonzinesymposium.org.uk/stalls

People are also able to drop off copies of individual issues of a zine to be sold at the individual zine table by the organisers on the day meaning anyone can take part.

Plus throughout the day there will be:

• The conquering and bold defiance: a radical history walk around Spitalfields/Brick Lane (walk)
  Learn about this area’s long and rebellious past: rioting silkweavers, Jewish radicals, anarchists, anti-fascist struggles, gentrification and conservation, and more.

• Throwing zines at Thatcher (talk)
  In the 1980s zines were an essential part of the resistance to the Tory government. Come along to here the history, from zinesters involved, and discuss whether zines can be relevant to fighting Tory cuts in 2011.

• Zine making workshop and printing
  Take part and make a zine with the help of Footprinters Workers Co-op. Once Footprinters have all the pages they will then print up the zine on-site(!) using their risograph.

• Atari punk
  Bereavement tape will be running a casual workshop at their table throughout the day showing people how to make an Atari Punk Synth with their introduction to DIY electronics.

• Zine making 101 (workshop)
  This is a chance to get some advice for all of your zine making questions.

• What’s coming up next? (talk/workshop)

• Acquired for development by… Readings by Hackney self-publishers
