This year's London Zine Symposium with be the seventh annual event and will be packed full with stalls selling zines, comix, handmade onjects, prints, radical books and other DIY items. Plus there will be a full programme of workshops, talks and even a radical history walking tour of the surrounding area.Stall holders
From Belgium, Germany, Holland, Italy, Finland and across the UK we will have over 60 stalls at this year’s Symposium. A fuller list can be found at http://www.londonzinesymposium.org.uk/stallsPeople are also able to drop off copies of individual issues of a zine to be sold at the individual zine table by the organisers on the day meaning anyone can take part.
Plus throughout the day there will be:
The conquering and bold defiance: a radical history walk around Spitalfields/Brick Lane (walk)
Learn about this area’s long and rebellious past: rioting silkweavers, Jewish radicals, anarchists, anti-fascist struggles, gentrification and conservation, and more.Throwing zines at Thatcher (talk)
In the 1980s zines were an essential part of the resistance to the Tory government. Come along to here the history, from zinesters involved, and discuss whether zines can be relevant to fighting Tory cuts in 2011.Zine making workshop and printing
Take part and make a zine with the help of Footprinters Workers Co-op. Once Footprinters have all the pages they will then print up the zine on-site(!) using their risograph.Atari punk
