I have a Leatherman blast. It feels like good quality but it's not much of a pocket tool, it's pretty heavy and has a fairly big locking blade. There are mods to remove the lock to make it a bit more legal and because of the design it's not going to fold back on your knuckles even with the lock disabled.
At the other end of the scale I've got a Leatherman Micra. This is great as a pocket tool, very portable and not something the police would bat an eyelid at. Blade is only short, 4cm, but pretty sharp. Most of the time though I find the really good scissors are a better alternative for things.
On "legal" blades like the Spyderco, I don't think there is actually a knife that is totally fine. Even something which is advertised as street legal can be deemed to be an offensive weapon if that is the view that wants to be taken. Obviously it's easier to argue it's not if it's a short blade and non-locking but it's not a guarantee.

This was my thinking.
Because stabbing and murder isn't really my thing I figured even if I was stopped and searched (obviously hugely unlikely) I would probably be fine and could go on my way but there's always the off chance that it might not always be as smooth as that. -

Also Leatherman Wave all the way. Love mine. They stop bullets as well:

I've never had a wave but I'm content with my sidekick for an edc, with price consideration what's the advantage of the wave other than looking better?

I have got one of these waiting for Father Christmas to deliver. I shall treat it to FatMax asap.

Lifetime guarantee. You can pretty much do what you like knowing that, for a couple of quid, you can send it off and it will be fixed or more likely replaced for free.

For sure. The Wave is excellent. I own one and it is awesome. In fact I've had two but my first one got stolen in Thailand. I had to replace it and the newer one is fairly different but better than older generation Wave. Part of me wishes I went for the Surge though but then I'm not carrying it around with me everywhere.

Agree the Wave is an awesome tool. I have two, one is worn out, all the tools are loose on their pins, the knife blade has been sharpened so many times it is half its original size but it still works. I got the later Wave but didn't like it as much, and I was able to find a nos original one a year ago, and that is now my pocket tool of choice, the worn out one still works fine, and resides in my tool box now. Very hard to beat.

So as eBay appear to be a bunch of bedwetters when it comes to sharp things I thought I'd see if anyone here is interested in this?
Vintage Glenhurst butchers cleaver. This thing is nearly 2ft long and weighs well over a kilo. Hand and a half handle with pommel. I believe this is for splitting carcasses in twain with. It's certainly not a kitchen knife. Think machete but 5x heavier and quality German steel. I'd really like £50 plus postage as its a pretty serious piece of cutlery but feel free to tell me I'm wrong..

With Chinese cleaver to give a sense of scale...
Oh and it'll cut down small trees quite comfortably as well so great for green woodwork/zombie survival.

Win: remembering to pack my Thiers high carbon, totally not stainless, chef's knife in luggage when I head off to self catering villa holiday.
Fail: forgetting to tell the villa's cleaner to leave it the fuck alone. Dishwasher. Agggggh.
I managed to get most of the discolouration off using bicarb, but it is now a blunty blunt thing. Will have to visit the sharpeners when I get back.
What a waste of jet fuel.

Am still on a search for a minimum fuss multi-tool (pliers and a single blade, maybe a screwdriver too..) that weighs as little as possible. Hoping for around 40-50g ish.
Haven't found one yet but on my search did end up ordering myself one of these..
Never liked leatherman.
Cumbersome imo.
Even the name.
So many levels etc.
