  • Yeah, both this^ and this^^

It's more when walking along the platform at Waterloo that it annoys me.

Having owned a pair of CK wheels I don't think any freewheel will ever satisfy me as much as that. The sound of quality. Can't really justify it though so will no doubt just go for some Novatec branded hubs.

  • ^^ Hope hubs are great. They make even moar noise now!

  • the mono rs' sound nicer than the pro III's

  • more of a loud purr than an angry bee

  • Sneak up on people:

If you can't justify better hubs - how can you justify £100 rims?

I would just get some Archetypes or a23's - at least they can be replaced easily and don't cost the earth.

    ?

They sound good, but for 20 quid extra I'd rather have the HED/Hope's, despite the freewheel sound.

  • A23s may very well be an option, I like the fact that they have a machined braking surface, unlike Archetype's. Though I remember Ed saying they felt cheap. Probably the best option though. I can afford 'better' hubs, but CK is a whole lot more expensive than, say, Hope's.

  • I also broke* a pair in like 600miles....And that was at my lightest point.
Probably a single (batch) problem though.
    (A23s)

Where are you getting the 20£ extra for hed/hopes?

    *split the seam.

  • since when has anyone cared what Ed thought about bike parts?

  • Whoops, it's a bit more for 11sp Shim freehub, but:

    http://www.hedwheels.com/proddetail.asp?prod=HopeArd

  • Thats rear only....

  • Pretty sure it's both - ask Fox, I think that's where got his from. They do offer front and rear wheels only and on each product page, you can select 'front', or '+rear £___'

Not sure how they could justify charging 500 quid for one wheel, I'd be surprised if that's genuinely rear only.

  • That page lists the hubs as being HED's. I dunno - confusing site is confusing.

  • Indeed.
    Fox- want to enlighten us?

  • Fulcrum Quattros are £189 on wiggle. Cheap for fancy wheels.

I prefer something that cheap and easy to rebuild when needed.

  • That would be two wheels with one rear hub only I bought.

  • Last year.

  • Fox bought the rims only and had some weird spokes built.

  • And yes on the Hope deal you do not get the +

  • So to confirm, that is both wheels?

  • Call them tomorrow but I believe yes.

  • Yes both wheels.

    Ive enquired about it before.
