Yeah lol, trying to go for an all American build so it's either these or spend about £140 more and go dt Swiss/pacenti which obviously aren't American but May be the better wheelset, at a cost though...

:(
Another Royce hub disintegrated on me this morning. That is four rear wheels that I have destroyed in a little over two years.
Two factory built and two hand built ones with Royce hubs.I am going to buy a 100 spoke wheel and see if that lasts more than 6 months which is about the average lifespan of a road wheel for me.
I just don't get it, when I was riding fixed I had the same Goltech hubs for 3 years without even snapping a spokeWell depressed

If you don't mind the low freehubs, the Hope definitely will last you a long time.
Don't think Royce hubs meant to be bombproof.

Or just get some cheap Tiagra hubs and leave it at that.

that is exactly what I have done 32 spokes. Surprisingly smooth for a cheap off the shelf wheel though I can feel it is not that stiff when pushing it up a steep hill
I will send my Royce hub back and see what they say. The certainly aren't bombproof.
they aren't even Mike proof -

On topic of the Ardennes on the Chris King rear wheel rebuilt: off centre or centre rims? Which and how much difference would that make for spoke tension?

What's hiccup got to do with it?

Do the maths, it's not hard.

That answers it. If I want to reuse the spokes I have to get whatever is on the wheel now it seems.

My HED's are ~27mm wide at the brake track.
Does there exist an alloy rim, designed for rim brakes, that would be close enough to that 27mm width so as not to need the brakes adjusted by more than turning the knob-adjuster?
-
• #2469
Hmm, I can only think of touring rims that wide. I don't even think rims like the Ardennes plus are that wide...
-
• #2470
How much adjustment do you get? A719 are 24.5mm so you'd only need 1.25mm adjustment either side
-
• #2471
Hed Belgium Plus is 25mm

Ask Fenella to ask me about our special HED price
