On a side note... up for a ride if one gets organised, although it looks like we're spread around Herts. We'd have to find a central meeting place and then ride from there. I call potters bar!

Cool potters bar is like 5mins drive from me.
Whats your real name bikedestroyer? -
• #43
Yeah, at Gosling
it shits me no end that i only found out about this several years after leaving WGC. the entire time i lived there (18 years, the whole time, 2 miles from the track) i never heard anyone mention it, or track cycling in general even once.
i bet my parents who still live there and have used the dry ski slope, driving range and gyms over the years don't even know it's there. they've certainly never mentioned it to me. you'd think local schools might have made something of it? but no it was the usual choice of football, rugby or bunking off to take drugs. what a waste.

Whats your real name bikedestroyer?Drive? What does that mean?
My name's is Phil. Does that help you somehow?!
@Dooks: I hadn't heard of the track until today and I've been here for a year. Why does no one talk about it?! Do you think it might be a viable option for a forum track day this summer seeing as Herne Hill is out due to resurfacing? I have no idea how to go about getting tracks booked etc, so I'm just voicing an opinion.

Work in Hatfield (oh joy) and my g/f lives in Stevenage so I probably spend more time in herts than London and will move there at some point.
Interesting comments about Gosling, the Welwyn club appears to have a fairly large kids section so they must be doing something right? And the track seems to attract people from most of the local clubs and that is probably their main target. Serious question when people comment about not knowing about it, if it wasn't for this site how many would know of Herne Hill? Where else is that publicised?

I was at gosling this morning for track training and it's alive and well!
I started a 'Welwyn track' thread in the track sub-forum which didn't get too much responce: http://www.lfgss.com/thread66674.html but it is there.
Seems there's a few of us around which is awesome. When thinking about doing a ride,Welwyn wheelers do rides on sunday morn from Golsing,
but if people wanted something more casual/jokes I'd be up for it. -

As I spend most of my time as loan rider. I was wondering if there are any North Hertfordshire riders about? I live in Letchworth to be exact. I've seen a few small number of fixed-gears and SS's around but its rare.
Maybe we could a annual meet and ride?
