I'm really intrigued now as to how they actually set up the space, and why they'd allow ravers all over their sports facilities. It is a big building, but I just thought most of it was the swimming pool.

I think they had a hard cover that went over the olympic pool. I don't know where I got that info from originally, but the more I think about it the more unfeasible it sounds, particularly with regards to acoustics in the pool hall and the place getting trashed with booze, pills and fag smoke. I'd have to see the video from that night but it would make much more sense for it to have been either in the big sports hall where all the basketball courts etc are (were?) or out in the running stadium (though I think they were indoors).

I'd imagine it was in the halls where they used to have the hard courts i used to do sports tournaments in there as a teenager and watched basketball ball there once so probably big enough. I've been to a few raves in leisure centres and one on a covered ice rink. They used to make decent venues as everything was on site parking, toilets, cafe/bar sometimes as long as security could keep people out of the closed off areas

Speaking of tapes, I fished this out of the loft recently when I was putting some stuff up there. Need to rip these, if theyโre not on Mixcloud....

Just mentioned that on YT. There's more MCing than d&b in that intro track!

This is brilliant - I love the sound of his stuff. Has he got much stuff out on vinyl? I know there was that recent 'After Hours' remix he did.

Been listening to this a lot this week. Some original unplayed copies were recently discovered by Bill Vega who runs Liftin Spirits. Never get tired of that Genesis sample. Uplifting business. Mad to think Andy C was probably about 15 when he made this.

Iโve found this guy before because heโs running Octamed as his tracker. Me and my brother used to use that to make tunes back in the day on his Amiga 1200 (and on the 500 before that). I canโt remember if this fella uses an emulator or if heโs running a hopped up Amiga.

So, this week I learned on here that there are in fact 7 mixtapes from that rave at Crystal Palace. My one was the 7th set. I also spotted something on my tape inlay Iโve never noticed before - see pic.
I bought that tape in Lucky Spin records on Kings Road. I remember going up the steps at the back of the shop and I vaguely remember seeing the tapes in a line in a glass counter. Lucky Spin then became Section 5 and was owned by Moving Shadow. I didnโt know that. Now look, I realise it was a bit dim of me to not make the link that the short bloke called Nicky I used to talk to behind the counter at Blackmarket Records was, uh, Nicky Blackmarket, but how the fuck did I not know that either? We went in there all the time because the Our Price on the corner kept quite a lot of hardcore on the shelf and then on up to the Bluebird Garage where there was a live DJ. It was always worth the trip there for music.
