  • Have you tried Pit Stop first, Rob?

If that fails then send it to the fella above.

  • I always see tub repair kits at HH jumbles, and DIY 'sounds' easy but dunno if I'd trust my sewing skills against 120PSI of latex inner tube.

  • Do it yourself you lazy bastard?

No latex liquid in tubs on the track! If that's what pit stop is?

  • Do it yourself you lazy bastard?

    No track.
    No chat.

thought about it, but for the sake of £15, would rather just get it repaired.
A cannister of pit-stop is going to be the best part of £10 anyway isn't it?

  • Rule #16388218

    #Robsneverendinglistoftrackrules.

It's not a rule, you intellectual dwarf. But as someone who has already tried that shit it's not something I would recommend.

The latex isn't very nice when you puncture again and it pisses all up your bike and your legs like a badly trained spaniel.

  • Oh, and I have a pair of servizio corse or whatever they are called, one's punctured but the other is goo-oood hmmmm mmmm. Will sell for a few notes.

  • Never been pissed on by a spaniel.
What have I been doing wrong to make it so far in life without being graced with such a gesture of canine respect?

  • I'll take the good one of your hands, sir.
I won't let you piss on me though.

  • No track.
    No chat.

    Catchy slogan.
    I'll fix it for £14.50

  • Some people do away with the basetape completely, but I would advise against it if it's not too bad I would just glue it as you would any tub, and I would definitely advise against gluing the basetape to the tub.

What's the issue with gluing base tape back onto tub?
I do it with liquid latex (Fake skin from the joke shop)
Seems to work fine for long stretches of de-laminated basetape as well as short stretches of re-stitched repair.

Coolio, chat next time. I'm away in bruminham Saturday but around on sun morning if you want it quickly (the tub not the piss)

    He's a postie in Leeds.

I have used them and they were very good

  • I am smashing hills in Kent on Sunday morning.... But could swing by on my way out/back in.... what times you going to be there?
I need to be at Cadence for a 9:00 depart..... will prolly be coming back through between 12:00 and 1:00...

  • Perfecto. You can have the pair anyway, might be worth repairing the other one.

  • Tubs are easy enough to repair. I used to repair them for pocket money in the 80's. Ha ha.

    It's pretty basic sewing skills.

  • Adroit mentioned that Conti Competitions could not be repaired- anyone know why this is?

  • So has anyone tried vittoria cronos or Schwalbe Milano for any length of time on the new HH or BCC surface?

  • Adroit mentioned that Conti Competitions could not be repaired- anyone know why this is?

Some conti's are seamless - you can't unstitch the casing to access the innertube - the only repair option is latex sealant.

Perhaps the comp is a seamless tyre - the proported benefit is that they sit more evenly on the rim.

  • Thanks

  • Have you punctured one?

  • No- not yet anyway.

I was having a look at them, and the rear has cut up a bit- in a way that would have spelled 4 flats if they'd been my "special Paris-Roubaix" tyres, somewhat ironically.

Just about to head out for a ride with a spare pre-glued tub and a tin of Pit-stop in my jersey, on the Conti's.

  • So of course I got one today, coming back in down the KIngs Road- looked like I'd run over a tack, perfectly circular hole punched through the meat of the tread, tyre went down in a hurry.

I shot a tin of PitStop into it, window shopped for 15 minutes and then pumped it up and rode home (via LMNH for a coffee).

Pleasantly surprised that PitStop does what it promises- I was having visions of having to strip a tub off in front of the Hoorah Henrys and ChavScum out celebrating Chelsea's victory in the fitba.
