I really like the CS elites, probably the nicest tubs I've used.
Nearly twice the price of the CS though.

edit - just read RPM's first post on this thread (lazy me) - Pista CS it is again. If it aint broke...
It's an old thread, and the old surface was a devil on lightweight tubs towards the end of it's life. In fact it was quite nasty to clinchers too!
The new Tarmac…? Well it's so grippy you could use practically anything, but I'd still go for something with a puncture belt because grit and other foreign bodies still appear on the track often enough.

Some of the guys have been racing on the pista CS elites (they're new and not to be confused with the EVO CS which are very light and really for the wood). I've just fitted a pair on my wheels and they look much better made than the standard CS (which I never liked due to their propensity to go hard and slippery indoors and the way the base tape always seems to come away at the edges).
They're nice and light but with protection for riding outdoors.I really like the CS elites, probably the nicest tubs I've used.

This is something to think about - they really are double the price and Wednesdays crash has already cost me quite a lot of money (new helmet, new carbon rim from PX, new saddle etc etc) - so cost is a limiting factor at present.
I never felt that the standard CS's were lacking in grip or supple-ness and compare pretty well to the Open Corsa Evo's I was running on my clinchers at the track. Perhaps I should just stick with them?

Thanks for the advice.
Honestly; I'm probably not good enough to notice the difference!

I think if you do a lot of league level bunch racing then decent clinchers would be more durable leaving your carbon rims for opens and more 'important' events where you can use a better tub.
Tub wise, for just HH, conti sprinters are extremely durable and will last for ages, as will most of vittorias road tubs. If you were happy with the pistas then there's no real reason to change.

I got two seasons out of my conti sprinters racing or training two or three times a week at Herne Hill before I had to replace them. Good, hard wearing and decent priced entry level tubs but a complete bitch to fit as they are very tight compared to Vittoria, though I'm a weakling so you might have more joy than me.
