  • Truthfully? I think there are some absolute abominations of this bike

I have a Vig and I love it but I do have to agree, there are some shockingly ugly builds out there.

  • I really love Vigorellis. It's true that most you see [on the internet] are pure Anti, I think the best way to avoid this is to set it up with simple, quality parts and let the frame speak for itself. It goes against the current trend to re-live the HHSB glory days but with its sloping top tube the frame needs to be built as though it was a normal track bike (even if you then add risers).

    i.e

    This:

    Not this:

  • upsidedowns strikes a nice balance of the 2 iirc

  • But that's a TT bike not a track bike or a HHSB. Does look nice though i agree

  • When it was tri spoke front, deep carbon rear, drops and brakeless, one could argue it was quite HHSB.

  • I've tried to steer away from anti with mine. It's not finished yet but I'm low on funds.

  • I'll definately being using drops. The problem i have with these frames and a lot of modern stuff is there's no delicacy to them, their blunt and angular - they don't flow like the old stuff. I'm wondering how a low section rim would look, the thing needs to look graceful not clumsy. The aerospoke one above......each to their own but to me it's like taking a ballerina's shoe and putting fat laces in it and a Cuban heel.

  • Low section rim looks all to shit, scrap that.

  • I'm an old man, hence not too keen on the hipster stigma myself. That said, you worry too much. Build the damn bike to your liking... and ride it! Why give a fuck what other people think?

  • I'm not too young myself. Not fussed at all about what others think, tell you the truth i only really wanted to know what the saddle was in the first instance.

  • I like box section rims on frames like these, think it can look rather good....

    or mid section

  • The second one down there was what i based my previous comment on, that said, it's a whole different look to it on the black one in a slightly smaller frame size. Mid section is a nice compromise aswell.

  • Slightly lighter

I'm flummoxed by how radical lacing is lighter than says a traditional 3 cross, how come?

Surely aerodynamic benefit come from spokes such as CX Ray (which is moot for the average fixie skidder).

  • I'm flummoxed by how radical lacing is lighter than says a traditional 3 cross, how come?

    Spokes are shorter scobes

  • Ah that marginal gain.

  • Wasn't advocating radial lacing, just to make that absolutely clear.

  • I've worked out all the action needs to be at the front - no radial lacing nonsense. The Tron Light Cycle was the break through.

  • All sorts going on here.

  • What a mess!

  • Needs red bikestand.

  • Needs red bikestand.

    +1

  • Any recommendations on......seatposts? Trying to keep costs down so looking to spend around £20, Ribble have a few Deda and Cinelli around that, happy to buy second hand. Not the most crucial part admittedly but opinions welcomed.
