No fucking way! I've always wanted some on my 24" but now I want them on my fixed!

check out the new volume fork, its made for fixed gear:

Ooh me likey.

That's a nice fork. The problem with all of these forks is that they're so expensive. Somewhere in the region of £100 a piece. That's how much I'd pay for a frame!

Swobo Folsom frameset - i am looking to build one of these up how i did my Alf Web with the barspinable disc brake set up, and a burly wheelset - prob the new Velocity Chuckrers

i've run a 36T splined tree on my geekhouse since oct last year no problems at all
vinylvillian, i had a folsom for 1 day (2.5yrs ago) before they recalled all of them in the country, without reason. nice bikes, but very very heavy. how much for frame-set?
-
• #33
$275 - i tried one in Colorado a year or so ago - like the geometry a lot, and as you say well put together.
I hear you on the weight - however i think the frame itself should be ok, as a lot of the components on the bike, the coaster hub/rear wheel set up for example, weigh a stupid amount.

let me know when you order, as i might get a 20" frameset
-
• #35
Cool - i emailed Swobo this morning about getting hold of one - will let you know

Are you thinking of using it for tricks? There are better options out there if you are looking to build a decent trick bike, that thing looks heavy as hell. For instance this seems pretty awesome:

and tighter rear end makes for more flickability, steeper headtube angle better for g-turns nose wheelies etc.
-
• #38
Or wait up for the new 14 tricks frame, its gonna be 631 awesome ;)

• #39
the swobo is close to what i was going to get made up by ted, but why pay £300-400 notes on it?
-

Yeah but the Folsom is Aluminum which i prefer, and has a low standover so easier to throw around which i want, its more for hitting stairs, wall rides etc, i wont be doing any technical stuff on it - check out the rear triangle, burly:
TBH i know a lot of trick bikes are sticking to track style geometry - but i like riding fixed gear more than i like riding a track style bike, so am interested in building something with geometry designed for chucking around with a fixed drivetrain.
If you look at the new charge Ted is working on it has pretty different geometry from whats out there at the mo

My swobo sanchez is completely not track bike geometry, which is exactly why I like it for tricks, and is surprisingly light considering how strong it is, the milwaukee, new charge scissor and Teds new frameset for 14 are all designed specifically for freestyle also for people like tom la marche, ted etc.
The charge looks like its going to be really good, but the new 14 frame equally so, plus there will be some nifty custom stuff that can be done to it, i'm gonna put some money down for one soon, and get a bmx mid bb put on it ;).
I would at least wait until the peeps that are getting them first get their 14 frames, and then ask gus/mikey etc for a ride on their's before making your mind up, as they do exactly the same stuff on their bikes as you are looking to do on yours, so no doubt the geometry will be perfect for that kinda stuff, as they have been designed mainly for street riding/tricks. -

Same here by the way, i'm really not a massive fan of traditional track bikes.

Yeah i see what your saying, a lot of the new stuff coming out is v cool and has some great thinking behind it - however one key thing for me is i like to run a front disc brake, and the Folsom allows me to do that - also i can swap all the part on my Alf Webb over, so if i can get the frame for under 200 quid i am laughing
Plus its something totally different!
If you look at my current set up, and imagine it on the Folsom frame you will see what i am on about
-
• #44
see, i'd hack off all the braze ons
-
• #45
Hey its all about the smile factor! Whatever you enjoy riding the most is what counts, if we all rode the same bikes that'd be boring! Although I like dales idea, that'd look cool.
-
• #46
yeah everything save the disc tabs on the forks would have to go
-
• #47
although the bottom chainstay bridge might have to be cut away to fit a 700c
-
• #48
Apparently it will run 700c no probs -i assume not with too big a tire though
-
• #49
that Folsom rear triangle's dirty as they come..

and another fork arrived in europe:
Quite long forks, clearly designed for hardtails....but fuck that I want some on my fixed!
