Anyone got any tips to reduce swelling? Had quite a bad saddle sore (due to me continuing to ride with it), I haven't been riding for 2 months now due to broken collarbone. The sore itself now seems to have cleared but the whole area is swollen. Been to GP twice, they have said to not ride until the swelling has gone but it doesn't appear to be getting any better. Anyone got any magical ointments that will reduce the swelling?

Have you tried Colloidal Silver?
Worth getting a 100ml spray bottle of 25ppm strength. Anti bacterial, anti inflammatory. . . Awesome stuff for treating all kinds of skin issues. -

Tea tree oil, not a cream with tea tree in it, but the pure stuff. A couple of applications a day together with some vaseline always sorts me out in a couple of days.

Colloidal silver seems hard to come by? And possibly illegal to sell according to some websites?
I'll try tea tree oil and see how I get on! Ta

Not remotely illegal, or hard to come by.
I get mine from http://www.colloidalsilveruk.com -

I use Dettol antiseptic cream. Swelling sounds like it could be a deeper issue like an abscess or something though so topical creams aren't going to do much.

The vast majority of 'reports' and 'studies' that try and claim silver isn't effective for this and that are usually funded by the large pharma companies. . . Who would obviously love that to be the case, due to Silver being a natural substance, so they can't get the monopoly on it and rake in the same cash.
From my own personal experience i've had nothing but success with it. . . Including taking it orally on a daily basis.
And no, that isn't a guarantee of contracting 'smurf disease' like many nay sayers would like people to believe. . . But, to each their own! :)
I shall continue to use colloidal silver! :) -

It's meant to be top shit for burns (my bro used some magic silver cream for motorbike exhaust burn) but I've never tried it myself and I love my scientific papers, I do :).

Colloidal silver is a bit different to the creams and things which have other stuff in as it's just pure silver and distilled water, but silver in general is very effective for that kind of thing.
Not sure if rubbing your silver plated, Justin Bieber friendship bangle on your sore ringpiece will make any difference mind you, but you never know until you try. :) -

Fuck it, been meaning to post this for a while but have been too embarassed. Judging from previous posts, there are far more embarassing things here.
I've been getting small red sores on my balls after pretty much any ride that usually clear up after a day or two, but simply a short ride to the pub and some appear, slightly painful and very itchy the next day.
I got prescribed anti fungal cream but that didn't help. Was suggested some waxy stuff to put on before rides but that just seems to make it worse.
I always ride with chamois cream if in lycras and always shower afterwards, and any ride in casuals clothes will be followed by at least a wet wipe after, and often accompanied by padded undershorts.
I've been riding regularly for close to 10 years but it's only the last few months I've started having this problem.

Have you changed your bibs recently? It might be that some new bibs have a slightly different cut and a causing some friction that you're not noticing while cycling?

Pics or it didn't happen! :)

When you say sores, do they look like acne spots? If so, try something with a high content of benzoyl peroxide. It won't prevent anything, but will clear the existing sores within 48 hours.

More like red ... bits? Like little scratches and grazes.

So tempting to post on the shit fixie skidders say thread.
Do you shave your under carriage? Iirc British Cycling forbade its team members from doing this.

I suppose we have crossed way over the line of sharing too much already, so I'll say no I most certainly do not, only slight trimming.

When people say 'saddle sore' do they just mean 'spotty botty' or is it something more serious?
