fighting a bum
I've never heard of the guy

After this, if he loses, just legend fights for Conor to finish off the "superstar career" imo.
I wouldn't be disappointed to see him turn around and focus on the fighting and improving to be the best, just don't think it'll happen (like you) -

Every fight conner loses now the likely hood of him fighting a youtuber increases exponentially. Bisping and others have already called this and if he loses to piorier again i don't see his chances against Gaethje, Chandler or Oliviera being much better. So off to the celeb circus fights.

What’s mad is that he’ll make more money fighting youtubers, so why wouldn’t he? He’s got a following that thinks he’s the undisputed GOAT (despite the obvious evidence to the contrary), so there’ll always be people buying his fights, regardless of how farcical his opponents are, lol.

I liked him till he got beat and then came out with all the shit he came out with. Now when you look at the stupid hair and all that, he's rotten.
Another one of Dana's next big superstars who are writing cheques far too early that they can cash.
-
• #457
Id say so, he's got far t0o many yes men surrounding him and even then he isn't as good as he thinks. The massive money he got very early ruined him and he's talking about he's back on the building site mentality while living in mansions, wearing 300k watches and sniffing all the white stuff he can when not fighting. Its hard to believe he could get back to that mentality.

He could take some notes from Jones. Absolute fuck up but still winning (just about) and being talked up as the goat.
-
• #459
I think Jones even though he is a bombscare a better more focused athlete, Conors not got the same talent as Jon imo.
-
• #460
Oh definitely not, but Jon has done much worse things outside of the cage, I think?
More just how to get away with serious shit that would get you in a lot more trouble outside of mma. Imagine if a top level pro boxer went and punched a member of public in a bar fight*, this is happening on a few month basis in mma and Dana doesn't even comment on it most of the time.
*I'm sure there are cases in the boxing world.

Didn't Jones knock over a pregnant lady while drink driving?
Also, he is a higher calibre of fighter for sure, but he's really good at getting away with eye gouging and other borderline moves.

They're both scummy, but Jones' fighting record is cleaner with regards to losses, and a lot dirtier with regards to doping and other cheating. Interesting that he was stripped of titles for doping but not really had wins overturned (one NC I think). LHW will never be as stacked as the middle weight divisions purely because there aren't as many athletes that big tho - so running through everyone at MW is different than at LHW or HW, simply because the talent pool is a lot deeper.
I really don't like JJ, but in the ring it's undeniable how talented he is. Although any time anyone has doping convictions, you never really know how much of that edge was attained through cheating. Would he still be undefeated if he hadn't been on the gear etc.

The eye pokes were ridiculous though
-
• #464
Saw it consolidated at about 10:30 into this video and realised how much he did it.
-
• #465
Actually that video is a bit shit, it was another one I can't find, but yeah, he's a poker
-
• #466
I dont think a lot of that genre would be, everyone was at it then.
-
• #467
They both have seriously questionable shit that is brutal and should have ended them both.
-
• #468
Quite interested in Eye Vs Maia as well.

• #469
I think Michel Pereira fits the 'interesting styles' category as well.

Greg Hardy
My money is firmly on Tuivasa. He seems to do well against taller opponents.
-
• #471
My money is always on Hardys opponent he's a hard guy to warm to. Should be a great fight. Neither will have any desire to go to the ground so hopefully they don't gas too early

Conor has compromised his own leg this time. He's out
-
• #473
😬 That ankle looked like a wet sock for a moment there. Just got up to watch the event in reverse order. Probably a good way to do it since the climax was rather anti
-
• #474
Yeah i reckon that's compromised

He’s still saying he was beating him, honestly he like a villain out scooby doo now.
If Poirier wins again, is that curtains for Conor as a cutting edge fighter? A spate of losses, a lack of adjustment or development in his last fights, a loss of that critical punching power etc. He’ll never be a scrub, but are his best days in the ring behind him?
I’d absolutely love it if he comes in looking like a new fighter, or at least with a different strategy but at this point I’m not sure I can see it happening.
