  • Thank you all for your kind thoughts.

My 17 year old daughter did take a picture before I left for hospital and so, as soon as she wakes up - after most of you have eaten lunch - a picture will be posted.

mowgster. Look at them. If they are worn, replace them. I recently did a couple of very hilly rides which ended with me ignominiously walking. That was enough to kill my cleats. I usually uncleat my right foot first which should lead to greater wear on that cleat but the slow shuffle up a hill or two must have damaged the left cleat. The irony is that I have about four spare pairs knocking around. I just kept thinking that I would change them "next" weekend and then "after the Monopoly Ride" and then "after the week's commuting"

  • sounds nasty.. hope you heal up soon.

  • What pedals are you using Clive? Or have I failed to notice that due to the fog of my hangover?

  • Keo sprints

  • GWS clive.
could be worse. chelsea could have lost.

  • Having a similar problem with my cleats at the moment. I keep tightening up the pedals and then wearing my good shoes (you know, the ones where the SPD plate isnt missing a bolt, the sides wearing through and the lining fabric isn't giving me blisters) leaving me unable to unclip without risking dislocating my knee.

If I can get some purchase on the bolts, I may replace the plates and turn the current ones into off-roading shoes.

  • ouch...
hope you heal up good and proper fast.

Tour of Ireland- sound serious stuff. good luck in that too.

  • Ouch. Hope you heal up fast.

  • You calling me a twat, Clive?

  • If the cap fits Will. ;p

  • When I yell "Do a skid!" at you.. I mean with the tyre not your body! Some people never learn.

    HTFU.. see you Monday :)

  • HTFU.. see you Monday :)

    What he said.

  • Bad luck cliveo !

    Could have been worse.

  • get well soon!

  • ow ow ow.

  • Ouch! Ouch ouch ouch!

Dr. Tom recommends a long weekend of beer-related 'recovery time'.

  • Heal up soon Clive.
Was a pleasure to meet you last week, and I should like to be able to do it again. So no more falling off :)

  • Ouch, heal soon man, I concur with Doctor Tom's diagnosis, a long weekend of beer-related "recovery time" is the best solution for dealing with injuries such as this.

  • bad luck cliveo. hope the recovery is quick and the elbow heals up ok.

  • Oh no! Heal up Clive. See you soon!

  • Ouch, Clive, I've only just seen this. Sounds as if you came down hard. I hope you won't feel the elbow chip as lasting damage. Take a good rest and don't worry too much about form for the ToI. You've been riding all winter, you should be fine with a few refresher rides. Hope the healing proceeds swiftly and decisively and that you'll soon be on the bike again. Further on the plus side, you should now be able to convince Irene that you need to spend even more on shiny new bike parts!

  • Ouch! Heal up quickly chap. I'm sure you'll be fighting fit again for Ireland.

Is there an easy way to tell if your cleats need replacing (apart from accidentally unclipping)? Crank Bros in particular.

  • heal quick clive.

and thanks for the timely reminder - the SPD-SL cleats in my road shoes need to be replaced.

  • Sorry to hear that Clive, just about to put my Keo pedals back on too =P

    Hope you heal up fast!

  • ah shit clive... bummer!
    get well soon mate!
