Monday night race training

  • Does anyone here still do monday nights? I keep meaning to go and wimping out because it's cold and I haven't been before so get too nervous.

I've been pretty much solidly ill, injured or unable to make it since track league finished. I doubt very much I'll make it before Christmas now. I will be back in the new year to sort my legs out.

They are really good sessions though Jess - much better bang for your buck that Saturdays.

  • Yeah I haven't been back to the track since Velojam, I fell out of my routine and it's really difficult to get back into a new one. That it's dark and cold and involves cycling through Central London at rush hour doesn't help. I'm definitely going to get down there eventually though, I miss riding on the track too much.

  • Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I was wondering what procedure was for this session....got my training accreditation yesterday and was hoping to head down, but may be pushed for time to make it there for 7pm. Will I be turned away or is it ok to join in late if I'm later than 7pm?

  • In for tomorrow!

*sorry, I can't answer the above.

  • ^^ The accreditation requirements don't start until April so that shouldn't be an issue. That said, one of the coaches told me this weekend that tardiness will no longer be tolerated. No joining once the session starts, at least that is their goal for this year.

  • Are Monday nights still a chaingang/skills affair?

Planning on coming tonight but my legs are a bit worse for wear after this weekend.

  • I hope it's race training.

  • The chaingang still had plenty of racing in

  • For me it's more racing skills than actual racing for the accreditation.

  • Guess I'll come down, see what I can get out of my legs and go home when I run out of steam

  • Guess I'll come down, see what I can get out of my legs and go to Morleys when I run out of steam

  • you're a bad man (not the right type either). I had Ken's fish & chips last night - no way can I eat wings tonight!

  • Who said anything about wings, 3 pieces all the way.

  • I could get a fade done afterwards too?

  • You have more of a cornrow face.

  • Dream crusher

  • Commuting home in this manic head wind and my thoughts are to you lots training tonight!

  • I've suffered an indrary, am out.

  • U crash? Thought I saw your face in track centre?

Track was windy and cold tonight. I was crap.

    Next week...

  • Don't worry i'll be there tonight.
You shan't be crap and the most dangerous anymore.

  • Won't be there tonight. Legs in bits after the weekend.

  • Looks like rain all evening.. sacking it off.

  • Met office has been saying it's "raining heavily" here in Herne Hill all day - but all I've seen is a bit of light rain. Going to play it by ear and hit the rollers if it looks too soggy.

  • And lo, the sky darkened and became wet.. and I dusted off the rollers.

  • Of course, the first time I ever make it to race training is the time it pisses down for the entire two hours.

Good fun though, will be back next week.
