    (haven't bought yet...)

  • sputniks are stronger than the rhyno lites from what i've seen/heard, plus my mates old bmx rhyno lite rims were shit, and died within 2 months, thats enough to put me off buying them for any bike.....assuming these are the same kinda construction?

  • Those ain't Rhyno lites - they're NOS original Rhynos.

  • Are the Sputniks the ones 14 has with 48h? the same ones Gabes has in his bacj wheel?

  • Any advice on the best (polo-proof) spokes?

  • Yep the same just not 48H, only 14 can get the 48H versions as far as i'm aware...

The thicker the better I imagine when it comes to polo, but yeah yeah, I know, no polo no talk ;)

  • Any advice on the best (polo-proof) spokes?

    edit:James beat me to it

  • Not double-butted? I don't know much about wheels (yet).

  • read speed fail

  • i have a sputnik which i built for the dd, and am planning to rebuild for polo now that is done.
i can certify that they are shit strong but they weigh a tonne - sturmey archer hub + sputnik rim + randonneur tyre = over 2kg

  • also they have a really awesome braking surface which looks slightly holographic!

  • Not double-butted? I don't know much about wheels (yet).
Yes, for everything apart from Polo.
Polo you want straight gauge or touring spokes liek the ones linked too.

  • what he said ^.

  • Nice one. Thanks everyone!

  • Get yourself some rigida sputniks if you're that desperate for new rims, mine are ridiculously tough, can get them in 36 or 48H

have to go with my man james on this one

  • Yes, for everything apart from Polo.
Polo you want straight gauge or touring spokes liek the ones linked too.

    Why?

  • Why?
Polo spokes take direct hits from the ball, thinner double butted spokes will bend or snap more easily than their plain gauge equivalent.

  • cos they are weaker.

  • cos they are weaker.
Not stricktly speaking true, they are weaker in the case direct impact but build into a more laterally and vertically compliant wheel.

  • oh fuck off, you know what i meant.

  • Sorry, I was feeling particularly pedantic.

  • you two get a room
