  • i watched the kingdom the other day.
    Lars von Trier's one
the original, not the steven king rip off. it is good.

    ahh fuck, hes danish.

and by the other day I mean over the course of a weeks evenings.

Great film, as is 'The Idiots' (tasteless but funny)

Dead Snow looks wicked. Nazis + Zombies = Epic Win.

I love good zombie stuff, mate has just lent me World War Z, I'm hooked.

How do people feel about the Slow Zombies/Fast Zombies debate?

    Defo slow zombies.

  • Watched Kramer Vs Kramer last night, really, really great film.

This is the kind of comment that makes me think you are 50+.

  • soppy fncker

    I love you too.

Gus, If you like Spirited Away you would like Castle in the Sky. By the same studeo. Really good.

    Howl's Moving Castle too.

This is the kind of comment that makes me think you are 50+.

    Why thank you ^_^

  • +1 for the slow zombie camp.

Fast zombies don't make sense - vampires and werewolves can be fast but zombies should be slow and shuffle-y. Not all hip and dancing like Michael Jackson Thriller zombies.

  • love film. who wants two free months? i've got a card kicking around.
    pm. not dibs.

    seemed like the best thread.

  • hayao miyazake and neil gaiman`s princess mononoke.
if u like anime and a good story, check this out it is a brilliant piece of work.

  • love the studio ghibli stuff.
but if you like danish, anime and fucked up, check out 'princess'...don't be fooled by the title, it's dark

  • One guess as to which one is my favorite studio ghible film....this should be a give away.

  • Ghibli FTW, All abovve mentioned rule. Can't believe Laputa was made in 1983 - so ahead of it's time.

Simon Pegg on zombies. I prefer slow, but not that bothered.

  • Let The Right One In

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/culturecritics/sukhdevsandhu/5131859/Let-The-Right-One-In-review.html

Saw it last night. Swedish Vampire love story

    +1

    Fantastic movie.

Beautifully shot, perfectly cast, sublimely gifted actors (especially the children), funny, shocking and often deeply moving. Even the soundtrack's pretty special.

Go see it now, before Hollywood re-makes and ruins it.

  • Hard Candy? The film with the really really really really iratating girl who gets a pedo to hang himself.

i rate her, can't stand that Juno shit but liked her in this. but he wasn't a pedo.. he just took pictures. good film

  • Curious case of benjamin button

Marley & me - Good old tear jerker for any dog lover, a funny/sad delightful little film loved it

  • watched bronson last night, it was o/k but not great, you did'nt find out about the man but the main actor was good.
watched a re isssue of 400 blows by truffant, it was great to se on the big screen but it's not the best new wave film.

let the right one in is one of the best films out at the moment, everything is excellent, pure class.

tony manero looks amazing but i've not seen it yet.

theres some good films out at the moment

  • Got in late last night, been working my ass off all day - then training till 9.30pm.
Got in feeling really tired, but really wired.... does that make sense. Absolutely K.O.'d, but not ready to hit the sack. So what do i watch? I needed something easy going, possibly funny, and something to lose myself in....
    I watched Juno.
Frickin' loved it.... not my usual kind of film, but so good for what i needed.

  • The Brick.

  • "clubbed" is a good english film, watched it last night.

+1, "let the right one in"

  • disurbia

  • Valkyrie
    defiance

  • watched bronson last night, it was o/k but not great, you did'nt find out about the man but the main actor was good

Tom Hardy is monumental(-ly hard) in Bronson... but yeah... it gets a little lost / dull

let the right one in is one of the best films out at the moment, everything is excellent, pure class.

Apart from the daftest bit with the cats...
Otherwise it's a really great film, but this bit was SO lame.
(and yes... Hollywood is indeed about to fuck it up - even with Matt Reeves at the helm)

  • disurbia

Admittedly I haven't seen this but I can guarantee that Rear Window is infinitely better.

  • Cube - total guilty pleasure, i mean, we all know it's essentially crap right?!

Under its shallow survival/horror wrapping it is essentially a science fiction short story - i.e. it is all about a single idea, and the climax is the revelation of that idea to the audience, so any art or style serves to communicate that or gets in the way. That's how i took it anyway, and judged on those terms i think it's pretty good.

And its idea, that organisations can do terrible things without any of the people within them ever deciding to, is still an unusual and fascinating one.

i rate her, can't stand that Juno shit but liked her in this. but he wasn't a pedo.. he just took pictures. good film

Get hold of 'mouth to mouth'. A bit raw, but all the better for it.

  • i saw burn after reading last night. pretty funny that. definitely recommend, especially if you like long monologues and loud mouthed ranting by well formed characters.

  • Let the right one in. Fantastic film. It is on at the Phonix in East Finchly untill Thursday. Go and see it.

  • 'Afghan Star' - its a documentary, on at the Institute of Contemporary Arts (hipster-tastic) at the moment and no doubt coming to a Channel 4 near you soon. Really very good.
