You, and a lot of people on this thread, seem to believe the police officer was 100% responsible for what happened..
depends what you mean by this. I agree she was doing action X, wether you call that protesting or being aggresive or whatever, and the policeman reacted to this. In that respect she was responsible for what happend, but as far as her being respocible for the fact that he over-reacted and attacked her, he is wholly resposible for that, yes. If you annoy me and i then take it upon myself to punch you in the face then i am the one that is wholly responsible for the fact that I punched you in the face, as i didn't act proprtionatly, and it becomes even more important when I am a police officer

edit. Shit just saw the filming bit. Id rather you were an agitator as from looks of things every rally, march and demonstration will be heaving with photographers

Court of law acquitted him. That's what's what, holmes.
Cheers, Holmes. I wasn't asking for his legal opinion. I wanted to see him argue.
And courts are never wrong. Just like the police.

I read somwhere she actually had battery acid in that carton so he was right to belt her one

Awww. A court of law gives a decision you disagree with, instead of accepting they probably know a lot more than you who's watched 45secs of youtube, they must be 'wrong'.

I heard she had a remote mine inside her video camera

Count me in as long as there is no talk about police brutality.

No, you're wrong. If you annoy me, used abusive language towards me, mock-punch me, and then I strike you, then that is different to me striking you for no real reason. Any court, in any country, will take your actions into account. This will undoubtedly affect my punishment in striking you. You will have to accept some responsibility.
And the police have do have a much greater ability to use physical force on someone than an ordinary civilian, whether you like it or not.

Re-read everything I've written. You are absolutely dim as fuck. It's really pretty unbelievable.
My most recent comment about courts was to argue that what a court says should not be the end of ethical and moral debates.
In fact, I don't think I ever once entered a debate about the judge's decision ("I don't think" - it's possible I slipped something in somewhere, but I don't think so). I entered a debate in which some fuck wit argued police should not be criminally charged for misconduct, and that these situations should be handled by the police themselves internally. Then a whole shit load of other retarded shit came up, culminating, I think, with you posting a racist cartoon.

Ive changed my mind. Im gonna try and intimidate a co-po instead and then wait for them to beat me with their radio. Thatll make the papers for sure.
lpg, you still good to film? -

Firstly, I never said that police 'should not be charged for misconduct', you fucking bedwetter. I said a conviction could have encouraged more people to goad the police in difficult situations, if they know they could sell their story to some publicist and prosecute with ease. Why don't you re-read what i've read, instead of spouting bollocks.
Secondly, what's racist to you clearly is not racist to me. I would have posted it up if he was a white fella, makes no difference to me. But whatever, I don't have to explain myself to you, I really don't care if you think that image was racist, I have more important things to worry about than offending your delicate sensibilities

Okay, I did. And this is what I have gathered from what you wrote (Quotes are yours, and I don't think their out of context): Ultimately, you think it would be a bad thing if any "dickhead with a gripe against any policeman would feel encouraged to take any officer to court for misconduct [...] It would have seriously undermined their authority." You also said: "I think the whole thing should have been dealt with internally."
Of course, you said "dickhead," but who will decide which cases are being raised by dickheads, and which ones are legitimate. Surely that's unworkable. Therefore, it's best if all cases (dickheads and legitimate) are handled internally.
From this, I conclude that you feel cops should not be publicly accountable for misconduct, as it will, in your opinion, undermine their authority. Instead, these issues should be handled internally.
I'm happy to be corrected. Unfortunately all I have to work with is what you say. It's fucking difficult at times.
Secondly, what's racist to you clearly is not racist to me. I would have posted it up if he was a white fella, makes no difference to me. You don't have to be Roland Barthes to read it as racist. If you can't see it, fair enough; you're a naive dim wit. -

lpg, you still good to film?Yeah sure thing mate. We can dress up like the 7/7 bombers, go film the Gherkin at close range, and then act totally shocked when our 'human rights' are being 'trampled on' by the police who inquire about why we're filming.
I reckon the Guardian'll probably buy it.

@horatio
Right, I see where you're coming from. You're twisting my words to fit your viewpoint. I didn't say Police officers should never be convicted for misconduct, you jumped that conclusion yourself. And you have clearly quoted me out of context. I said "If this case would have gone through and the police officer had been prosecuted, every dickhead with a gripe ...." If this case. We're not talking about a Rodney King style beating here are we. I believe the more policemen that are convicted for what I believe to be quite small things like this, the less the police will be respected and feared, because everyone will know how little it would take to end a policeman's career. It's a tough call, but overall, in the long run, I think the court's decision was the right one.
