If you buy it new you can write it off after 3 years. If you want a MAC my son can get a discount off about 14% as he is a student but you'll have to wait until he is back from Vienna, maybe Easter.

Does anyone know of any iphone apps that can be used to plan routes for cycling? I'm looking for something that can be used to plan a route prior to going out riding and then provide live mapping once en route.

I know I could use the normal map app that comes on the iphone but as far as i can tell there it does not have the ability to easily set a custom route...

Any suggestions?

Aren't they just about mapping rather than planning?

I'd love a planner given my new temporary commute is heinous.
Google maps will have a 'cycling' facility soon, but an app would be very handy.

As Wicksie points out most apps out there are for mapping routes that are in progress (imapmyride) rather than planning a route prior to going for a ride. My sense of direction is fairly useless so when I go for a ride it would be great to have something planned out beforehand.
