  • Just updated my 4 to iOS 7. Seems alright, not noticeably slower... Initial reactions good, will report back later.

  • Looks and functions really nicely on my iPad retina. A little sluggish on my 4 but then it wasn't exactly Jessica Ennis, greased liberally, whizzing across an ice-rink before.

  • 4, or 4s?

Hmm, I might give it a miss then. But it looks so pretty!

  • Amazing that people still haven't learned the basic iOS Update rule;
If you don't have the latest iPhone or its direct predecessor, don't bother. It's that simple.
Why are you surprised that a powerful new iOS is now raping the shitty battery on your years-old iPhone?

  • Actually it's not effecting it that much, especially if you've turned off the all the unnecessary battery draining features

*Under iOS 6.1.3, the iPhone 4 lasted for eight hours and 28 minutes. Under iOS 7, it lasted for a slightly shorter eight hours and seven minutes*

  • Has anyone tried it on an ipad 2 yet? I assume it'll be very slow?

Works fine on mine, even down to the 3D maps and stuff. No transparency though, although that makes little difference.

Nice to know that you can really make the most of your new OS by having to turn a load of functionality off.

Apple's single-core A4 is really beginning to show its age.

The bad news is that the A4 struggles to render iOS 7's sweeping new animations consistently. I'll repeat what I said in the iOS 7 review: iOS devices (especially the oldest ones) have always been capable of occasional stuttering, but iOS 7 magnifies these issues by using more animations and by making those animations more sweeping and longer in duration.

Everything is slower in iOS 7, usually by one to one-half second or so but sometimes by more.

When asked whether you should install iOS 6 on an iPhone 3GS, we can say "yes" without hesitation or condition. When it comes to the iPhone 4 and iOS 7, our response is a more measured "do it if you like the new features, but have you considered a newer phone?"

Can you see why you may have taken a step backwards?

I think you can still enjoy the new OS without email pushing and bluetooth

    PS. Don't cry

  • Mr Buzzkill

  • I'm enjoying 7. Looks really clean and well designed. I would love it if it somehow improved my battery life as that is the number one gripe I have with the iPhone 5. It's pretty unbelievably shit in that regard.

What are the biggest battery drainers? Any ideas?

  • Works fine on my mini, really enjoying it there.

My iPhone 4 was a bit slow and and sluggish anyway and 7 certainly isn't any worse, if not perhaps better, obviously some of the animations are choppy but general usage is fine not had any issues with battery life either so far, upgraded and charged to 100% last night still on 73% after being out for the day

  • double post

  • Has anyone tried it on an ipad 2 yet? I assume it'll be very slow?

It was at first, but it picked up the speed. Resolution might not be there, though, because everything is tiny bit oversized and the content of the folders looks tiny.
I think it's more about having some free space for memory cashe

  • Lack of transparency is a bummer. Had to change the background to something more subdued for it to make more sense.

  • Just rang t-mobile for my upgrade and got straight through (the website kept crashing).

Switched to EE for the 4G funsies and ordered a new 5S (16 gig). Was £120 upfront on a 2 year £40 3 gig a month contract.

Think I accidentally ordered an ugly colour though. Silver black?

    £40 quid for 3gig on 4G??? You're a brave bastard!

Meh... been on on 2 gig for £35 for the last three years and occasionally bust my allowance downloading audio when out and about. figured the extra fiver for 50% more data was worth it. Anyway, let's not get into all that.

  • use wifi when you can and you'll be fine. you get free hotspot access with EE

  • Zackly.

Gonna try iOS7 tonight. I'm digging the feel of it on friend's phones.

  • Grey black is my favourite colour scheme. Mainly because I despise the white front.
