  • If anyone like a cheesey America law-ish story The Lincoln Lawyer is a good filler between better shows

  • Slow Horses, Sweetpea and Heartstopper. All watched recently and all good, although in that order of goodness, all share producers apparently. Heartstopper is a bit young adult and earnest, but nice all the same despite a few dodgy actors and being a super spreader of the woke mind virus.

  • I rewatched Scublands on bbc iplayer this week, very good mini-series.

  • Mortimer & Whitehouse Gone Fishing is in the same vein, I bloody love it!

Yep, very similar feel. I've watched Gone Fishing from the start. "Where's my briefcase? Muppets."

  • Some of Sweetpea was filmed in our high street (Banstead) and some in Carshalton also.

  • Been meaning to watch that. The lead was great in Fallout

  • She was on (and very funny) Off Menu podcast the other week, I was kinda shocked she wasn't American after fallout.

  • She was in Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children with Eva Green too

  • Disclaimer is very good so far and quite sexy and sad in equal measure.

  • I'm trying to get into Succession but I absolutely despise all the characters. Is it worth persevering with? I know they're all supposed to be absolute cunts, but I find myself already hoping they all get completely fucking screwed.

  • Keep going , I loved it and disliked all the characters.

  • I felt the same but its great. Keep going

  • The devils hour season 2 👌🏽

  • I gave up. The show have me no joy.

  • You are lucky not having sunk too much time into it yet, it's absolutely hollow and just goes in circles nowhere. Nobody gets screwed, everybody is well taken care of, drowning in money.

  • Try and find avenue 5, not politicalish but still funny.

New series The Franchise has a similar feel.

  • Is it worth persevering with?

I don't really think it a question about the characters. Obviously they are key, but it's about whether you like that sort of political drama - like House of Cards or whatever.

If you do, continue. If you don't, don't.

My OH wasn't really fussed, likewise someone at works GF didn't get into it.

It's an excellently put together show with all those little touches and considerations that tend to indicate quality. But fundamentally you have to enjoy it. Otherwise you'll just be like all those people pretending they enjoyed S2 of Twin Peaks.

  • it's absolutely hollow and just goes in circles

  • Yeah... maybe it is quite a lot about the characters.

  • Pretty much nothing happens throughout - every episode the siblings fuck each other over but nothing actually changes. There's plenty of teasing that someone might turn a corner or develop, but they never do. I'm sure this is also the point.

First few episodes I didn't like it, but I thought it settled into things toward the end of the first season, and overall enjoyed it as a way to look down on people that are 'better' than me. The foul mouthed rants are fun, as are the ridiculous cringy portrayals. Knowing there were only 4 seasons so it wasn't going to just spin in circles forever helped. Wont be like The Wire or Sopranos where if you haven't seen it people will tut at you in 20yrs time

  • I do think that Succession could have a whole season's worth edited out without losing anything. Also Tom and Greg characters do develop. But ultimately it is a black comedy, not a drama.

  • Mortimer & Whitehouse Gone Fishing

    very good 👍

  • I think the thing about succession is quite deeply tied to the performers trying to show they are the best actor

Jeremy Strong and Matthew MacFadyen taking things pretty seriously
