Just read that interview with Shane meadows in the grauniad, about The Virtues. Heavy stuff and with a read.

antiques roadshow. well meaning woman is in possession of a cape covered in sewn on badges subsequent to a relative being a nurse or some such in WWII, so far so interesting, until the camera pans to the lower half which is covered in swastikas. expert completely fails to mention how these might be problematic.
i get that it should be seen as an item of notable historical value but surely that goes out the window when yer man attaches a £££ value to it?
yeesh.

I absolutely call bullshit on that Starbucks cup in shot on the latest game of thrones. No way that would even make it on to the actual scene stage, let alone survive post-production.
-
• #4956
Is it the badges from people she killed?
-
• #4957
Why's everyone saying it's a Starbucks cup? They are white, this one is brown. Also, apparently it's been deleted now.

I’ve no idea - I’m not sure what a Starbucks cup looks like these days to be honest. I’ve not actually seen the episode yet - will watch tonight and see if it’s still there!

The Looming Tower on BBC is quite good. The first episode of Chernobyl on HBO was excellent.
Bodies on i-player from when Jed Mercurio was a decent writer. -

Veep has been a bit disappointing and finishes on Sunday. Good jokes but getting far fetched.

Better Things isn't so funny anymore but intelligent and interesting all the same.

I'm still liking it.
Barry is back on for series 2 and is good. -

The “fight” episode was so fucking weird. I love it.
-
• #4964
Barry? Yeah with the odd kid, it was great.

I there any consensus on Fleabag S02?
Not sure what to make of it. -
• #4967
I really enjoyed it. Thought it got the balance of feels to lols about right.

Not sure what to make of it.
I liked it - it didn't feel quite so sparky as the first though

..yea I'd sign that. I don't think it was bad, and maybe it's just that the first episode sort-of raised expectations quite a lot, and it kinda ebbed away afterwards.. yet the whole thing left me a bit "meh".

I liked it. I watched 1 followed directly by 2 and felt there wasn't much difference in quality between the two.

the salty GoT fanboy tears are sustaining me rn.
from SM:
The lack of research into military tactics alone pissed me off!
but dagrons tho!

Well the battle wasn't at all like that in the books.
-
• #4973
I thought some battle mistakes were rather catastrophic, as in "these people lead you?"
Haven't read the books or seen season 1-7 though, more annoyed by the idiocy of (can't say cos spoilers)
Overall a bit hit and miss in the writing and I say that as a distant observer, a lot of people seem disappointed. It all feels a bit rushed too, like they have to get it ended.
But I don't have the added fanperson disappointment on top, so can just enjoy it for the good bits and get annoyed at the bad bits.

Aren't the writers for GoT making Space Wizards and Lazer Swords movies next?
Saltier than a seal's chuff they will be.
Can't wait.
